Ok, so, I know a lot of kids and even adults who are bullied. Me being one at one time. I know how it feels. I know how it hurts. I know being how hit, being cursed at, having rumors spread about them, and threatened, for no reason what-so-ever, feels like. However, I'm not so sure how much older people (parents, grandparents, teachers, bosses, ect.) know about this or even understand the long lasting result of it...
What is bullying, exactly? The definition of bullying is a person who is cruel or overbearing, especially to a smaller/weaker person. Examples of bullying is spreading rumors, teasing, name-calling, inappropriate sexual comments, taunting, threatening to cause harm, leaving someone out on purpose, telling others not to be friends with someone, embarrassing someone in public - I think you get the picture.
Statistics show, in schools, 56% of students will personally witness some type of bullying at school. 15% fear of being bullied at school. one out of twenty students has seen a student with a gun at school. Revenge is the strongest reason for a shooting at school... What is more powerful than a bullet going through your enemies skin? At the work place, Prevalent statistics show, that in the U.S, and other western countries have 35% to 50% of workers have been bullied or abused in their workplaces at some point during their careers. Bullying causes low self esteem in others, anti-social behavior, and, in some cases, insanity.
When you are bullied, people will always say, "Life gets better in the future." If you are like how I am, you where most likely thinking or saying, "How the fuck does that help me now?" For those of you who don't understand, telling someone that life gets better after school or being in job that they are stuck in, just seems like a dream. It seems unrealistic. A lot of people who have been bullied, eventually loses hope in that.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to say this, but it is absolute shit that a person cannot get respect because what they wear, like, look like, ect. If you don't like a person, and you cannot say one legit reason why you should not like this person, what's the point in being a rude to them? If you are in the office and you are thinking of telling someone that they are "rape-able", I can't even. If you think that bullying is funny, ask yourself, what type of person am I? I don't know if people realize this, but if you bully someone, it says more about you than it does them.
