Me and the rest of the Gryffindors followed the Gryffindor Prefect to our common room. We climbed up what seemed like a thousand stairs until we finally reached the portrait that led to the common room.
'Password?' asked the Fat Lady.
'Fairy Lights.' said the prefect.
The portrait opened to reveal a hole in the wall. We followed the prefect through it.
The Common Room was scarlet and gold, which everyone knew was Gryffindor's colours. It was a circular room, which reminded me of Cat's room, take away the colour. It was also full of squashy arm chairs, tables and a notice board which had, well- notices. The window looked out into the grounds which, if you liked trees, was nice. Finally, there was a fireplace that dominated the far wall.
'This is the Gryffindor Common Room,' the prefect began. 'boys dormitories are upstairs and down to the left, girls- the same on your right. Your belongings have already been brought up.'
Once everyone was asleep, I climbed out of my bed and walked over to Bert, my brown barn owl, who was sitting on the windowsill.
'I need you to give this to someone. Fly around the castle for a bit, and once you hear a whistle, follow that whistle until you found them,' I explained.
Just as Bert was ready to fly, I opened my window and he flew out.
I watched him fly circles around the castle until I heard a faint whistle sound. I smiled to myself as I saw Bert fly towards the sea, and climbed back into my bed.
