"Welcome, Jasmine. I'm Helen Lotte and this is my husband, Harley Lotte. I'm so happy to see you!!!" Mrs. Lotte said to me with a big smile. She's a bit taller than me with curvy blonde hair and brown eyes that remind me of my own mother. Mr. Lotte was behind Mrs. Lotte and greeted me with a smile. "I heard about your mother from Helen. I couldn't wait to see the daughter of Helen's friend." He had a deep voice. He shook my hand and led me in the house. "Your room is going to be on the third floor. You can unpack your stuff there and if there is something that you aren't happy about, please tell us." Mrs. Lotte told me as we got to the living room. "Do you need help with the suitcase?" Mr. Lotte asked me. "No,thank you. I can do it." I replied and gave him a smile. The living room was a typical living room with couches and television but there is something strange and special about it. I can't tell what it was. I thanked Mrs. and Mr. Lotte and went upstair to the third floor where I would be living until college.
The room was bigger than my old room. The wall was sky blue and there's a balcony right next to the window. I knew that Mrs. and Mr. Lotte painted the wall and gave me the best room in the house. The bed was very comfortable and the desk next to the bed looked as if it had never been used. The closet seem as if it was never used. I opened it to see empty clothe hangers in them. I put the suitcase on the bed and started to unpack. I brought clothes, my computer, my parent's album, the locket my mother gave me and the envelope that contains my birth certificate, passport, and etc. Mrs. Lotte came and check on me in the middle of packing and offer to help. I decline politely. I thanked her for all the thing she did to me. She told me that they are eating dinner and if I don't feel comfortable eating with them, then she can bring my dinner up. I thanked her again and she replied, "Anything you needed."
"Come in," I said.
"Here's your dinner sweetheart, Let me know if you need anything." Mrs. Lotte said after setting the tray on the desk next to my bed.
"Thanks." I said. She left and I started to eat. It tasted really good. The spaghetti sauce is really good. I finished eating after two hour because I was chatting with a person named CoolSurfer_1. My chat name is SkyDancer_16. He's really cool. We chatted a lot. He loved making jokes to cheer me up which I really need. He logged off at eight and I took my plate downstair to the kitchen. I did the dishes and heard somebody in the living room. I thought it's Mr. Lotte and I went to the living room to thank him but instead, I saw a boy. He's about my age with blonde hair like Mrs. Lotte. "Hi," I said. He turned around.
"Oh. It's the orphan girl that my parent took in," he said not even looking at me.
"Excuse me." I said.
"The orphan girl," he said standing up,"your parent died so that makes you an orphan. So what are you doing here? Why aren't you in your new room. For the past week, my parent never stop talking about you. Especially my mother. What's so special about you? You're just somebody they pick up!"
"Alan!" Mrs. Lotte interrupted him. "Get in your room! I will not let you speak to Jasmine like that!" The boy, Alan, glared at me before going upstair. "Jasmine are you okay? Alan didn't mean what he said. He's a teanager and he's going through rough time. Don't let that upset you okay?" Mrs. Lotte said to me with a worried voice.
"I'm fine. I need to go to sleep." I replied not meeting her eyes and trudged upstair. Mrs and Mr. Lotte are very nice but their son seems to hate me.
