I was walking through the same hallway again. The light was there, the crowd was there chanting... One Direction? Who's that?
I started to run, but the light only got farther and farther. No, I need to reach it! One of the lights turned and shined into my eyes.
I woke up. I looked out the window and saw my reflection from the mirrored glass. I looked down at myself and I was sweating. Does running a little in your dream count as a work out or something?
I got up and the cold floor made me jump back up, but I slipped off the bed and landed right on my butt. Great, I woke the whole house up. Population me. I forgot.
Louis was taking Eleanor on a date for a whole weekend. Me? I was stuck inside this gigantic house by myself. Yay me.
I went downstairs and saw that Eleanor already put out the bread and nutella out for me. I'm thankful.
I toasted the bread and heated up some milk. This was going to be my midnight snack. I heard a creak at the door and I was petrified. I turned around slowly and got a pair of scissors.
I went up to the peep whole and I wanted to scream. My mother was trying to unlock the house quietly.
I opened the door and stared at her. I wanted to cry, but at the same time I couldn't. I looked at her and then something even more wonderful happened. I looked to my left and saw Jasper, my older brother, right in front of me.
I haven't seen him in ages. A finger snapped making me jump and I looked at my mother and she smiled saying, "I'd like to come into my home." "Oh, yeah."
I moved over and helped her with her bags. Of course Jasper helped me and carried them all to her room.
"So, did your father come home yet." "Yeah, but he left for a business trip." "I'm sorry sweetie, but I know you understand that we are very busy people and live for being entrepreneurs right?" I nodded my head.
She hugged me and said, "So, did you have any boyfriends while I was away?"
"I hope she didn't because I didn't hear anything about it." I turned and Jasper was standing at the foot of the stairs. My face turned a little red when our eyes met.
"That face tell me the total opposite of what I want to hear Spence. Please don't tell me that I'm correct right now." I bit my lip and turned back to my mother and said, "Dad already found out and asked him how many times he banged me. I don't want anything worse happening to him."
"Oh, nothing will happen to him promise, just depends on his answer to dad's question. If it rhymes with nero then we're golden."
My mother gave him a glare and said, "That's something that should be private. We don't want to get all up in your business ok? You are an independent girl now." I smiled, but a hand turned me around and said, "Hold up the fingers to the answer of the question that is still standing Spence."
I yawned and said, "I think my warm milk is ready for me, and oh my, it's getting late."
I heard my mother giggle and Jasper groan. I could tell he wanted to scream. I got my nutella spread with my toast and warm milk and went up to my room.
I'm happy that my mother and Jasper are back, but I don't want Jasper to know the answer to dad's question. That'll bring chaos and that's the last thing I want right now.
I got out the broadway script and started to read over the lines. They were all really deep thoughts that were well put together, and I was surprised to see that there were actually scenes where we spoke.
Rose: Mark, why did you do it? Why did you do it with her out of all people?
Mark: She seduced me into doing it. It wasn't me at all. I swear I love you with all my heart Rose. I do, and I wrote a letter everyday since I left you that one time for a whole year, but what broke me was that you didn't write back, but that didn't stop me from showing you how much I cared about you.
I closed the book. It's so cliché. I wanted reality right now.
I nibbled on my nutella toast and tried to think of something else except all the things that were happening to me. I didn't know what to do with my life at the moment. High school is just so much work.
I looked at the clock and surely it was three in the morning. Today was my birthday. I mean it is kinda early, but oh well. No one would remember. I groaned and then something made a noise. That made my heart skip a beat.
I waited for it to make the noise again, but it didn't. It was silent.
I looked around the room without making a sound, and then I saw two small eyes peeping through the door. They were black, but they were glistening in the dark. I tried to not focus on them, but the more I looked the more I saw behind the eyes. I saw a small animal.
I moved slowly toward it and went out the door. I opened the door and someone covered my mouth and twirled me around and pinned me toward the wall inside my room.
I closed my eyes not wanting to see the person, but then I realized how stupid I must look. I opened them and saw Harry. I gasped and he put a smirk on his face. I pushed him a little and let out a awkward laugh.
"Don't--" He covered my mouth and quietly shushed me.
He heard something in the hallway and quickly grabbed the animal and hid somewhere. I rushed toward my bed and took out the script and nibbled more on my toast.
"Is something wrong sweetie?"
My mother was standing by my door in a night robe. "No, nothing. Just reading my script with my midnight snack." She smiled weakly, obviously not believing my story. "Good night sweetie." "Night."
She went away and Harry stuck his head out of the closet door. I held my hand up to keep him in his place and then, of course the animal whimpered.
My mother came back and saw Harry and the puppy. She looked at the puppy, then at Harry. She looked surprised at him and then she slowly turned toward me. "Spencer. Ariana. Calder. I am very disappointed in you." She crossed her arms and started to tap her right foot.
"Sorry?" "You make it seem like you don't know if you should say sorry or not with a tone like that."
I bit my lip and then Harry finally spoke up and said, "Mrs. Calder, I know this isn't the proper time for introductions or explanations, but--" "Not now, I already can guess who you are." "Yes ma'me, I'll just stand over here then." "Good."
"Spencer. Why did you sneak him in here?" "I didn't."
She threw her hands up in the air and got annoyed, "The evidence clearly states that you did! Spencer don't lie to me. You know honesty is the number thing in this family." "Mom!" "Don't 'mom' me young lady."
"Mrs. Calder! I snuck myself into here!"
There was silence and my mother turned toward Harry. "I'm sorry that I did. I just wanted to wish your daughter a happy birthday." "It's not her..."
She turned toward me and I already had my hurt face on. My own mother forgot my birthday. Greatest gift in the world guys.
I wanted to tear up, but i had to show her that I'm strong. I wanted to do something, like scream or throw something across the room, but my muscles were fixed and stiff.
I rushed out of the room before she could say another word. First, my father missed my prom, then my own mom forgot my birthday. What else could go wrong. I swear.
I rushed out the door and got into my car. I drove off and started to drive. I didn't know where, but I kept driving.
I reached to a dark place. It had a few lamps showing a lighted path. The park. This is where my dad would take me when I needed to relax. I tilted my head back and closed my eyes. Someone tapped my window. I didn't look. Another tap. I slightly opened my eyes but didn't let the person see it. It was a beggar.
I opened them all the way and he held out his hand and pointed across the seat. I looked and saw a box full of muffins. I bought those for breakfast, but it was better for him have them I guess.
I rolled the window down and gave the box to him, "Merry Christmas." "Thank you so much. Which one can I fucking have? This is a fucking Merry Christmas indeed." "Have the whole box, and wait."
He looked puzzled and I bet he was thinking that I was going to call the cops. "I'm just going to give you some of my pocket change." He snorted and said, "Ma'me I think these batch of muffins are better than--"
He cut himself off when he saw me take out the first hundred. "Ma'me I can't take that. It's your pocket change." "No, you need it more then I do." I took out six hundred dollars and gave it to him. I didn't need that much anyway. I have all the food I need at home.
"Merry Christmas ma'me and may God bless you for your good deeds I'm fucking rich!" I giggled and rolled up my window. He's probably going to waste it all, but it got my mind set on getting things off of whatever I was thinking of earlier.
