"Well I'm officially bored." I whine to my siblings.
They are relaxing with some drinks and I'm stuck reading a magazine.
My brother chuckles and I glare at him "Sis, that look doesn't work on me anymore."
"Yea yea, because you're a marine who has been in Iraq for 6 years. (No offense if you have a family member in the army)blah blah blah." I say with annoyance.
My brother has not stop talking about his 'experience' on the battlefield. He goes on about how I should walk, talk, and act like a soldier. And I always tell him I'm never joining the army, but that has never stopped him from teaching me some survival techniques.
He taught me to never give into pressure. And look at where it got me. When the pilot announces that we can move around I quickly make my way to the mini fridge. I grab a 7-up and a jar of cherries.
I return to my seat and I scarf down all my cherries and my soda. My sister looks at me in disgust.
"What?! Why are you looking at me like that?! You're the one that's gonna have a human being come out of your-"
"Vicky, don't yell at a pregnant woman." My brother tells me as he throws a pillow at me. I huff and lean back in my seat.
I reach into my pocket and pull out my phone and earbuds. I connect them and put my playlist on shuffle. I gasp a bit when I hear the song playing, I turn up the volume and sing along.
Oh, my love, my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
Time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me
I can see my sisters eyes begin to water more and more as I sing. This was our parent's favorite song. She hugs me tight and my brother comes over to us and hugs us in his burly arms.
"You sound just like mom." My brother says and I hear him sniffling.
I look up at him and see the tears running down his face. I smile at him and burry my face into his shirt. The pilot announces that we go back to our seats and buckle up. I can feel the plane decline as I grip my chair, I always hated this part of flying.
Once we arrived at the airportI grabbed my suitcase and headed down the small hallway with Rudy and Rose. A man in a black suit and aviator sunglasses was waiting for us. We walk up to the man and introduce ourselves. Apparently his name is Roy and he is going to be our personal security. We all make our way to his black highlander. Rudy puts our luggage in the back as Rose and I get in.
Roy starts the car and we take a 3 hour ride to our new home. During the whole ride I just look out the window looking at the passing trees and the blue sky. Maybe this move will benefit me after all.
