8. Abby's problems
Abby was wheeled into the hospital as quickly as possible. Melanie went to the lady at the reception and said "We have a young girl called Abby who is 13 years old who collapsed this morning". The lady at the reception replied *ok Mel we will get mr Jones to look at her he is a specialist doctor who specialises in accidents". Soon a tall man who looked in his forties came and called out Abby's name he came over and helped pushed Abby's stretcher and took Abby into a side room Chris and Adam followed them in Melaine had to go somewhere to help somewhere else and Sean had to go too. Dr Jones said to Chris and Adam "I'm afraid Abby has a lot of injuries she's broken her leg and she is struggling to breathe on her own We will put her into intensive care and in the morning I will come and check on her to see if she needs a operation to fit a breathing tube down her throat she could need it all her life her airways are closed up. And she's in a coma we have no idea when she'll wake".Then Dr Jones put a mask over Abby's face to help her breathe and he showed them a room where Abby would be sleeping. It was a teenager's intensive care and the bed was White with some machines by Abby's bed to help her stay alive and breathe while in her coma. Adam said to Chris "i hope she finds her parents soon" Chris said back me too" A nurse came over and carefully lifted Abby into the bed and plugged her into the machines. Another nurse came and said to them "we'll look after her" it was supper time and Abby couldn't feed herself while in a coma so the food was chosen for her and the nurse fed it to Abby it was Mushy pea soup hospital food is never nice but Abby didn't know any different all everyone was wondering would she ever wake up. Dr Jones came back at 7pm and did loads of tests on Abby and confirmed she'd need a operation he said a general anesthetic would be used someone to come and see Abby to give her medicine so she was asleep for the operation she already was but they needed to make sure she didn't wake up during the operation. She'd be in alot of pain if she did because they would have to cut her throat she would be kept alive and breathing while they cut her throat to make a hole for the breathing tube to go then they would put stiches in and then Abby would be taken to intensive care they decided not to fix her leg because if she woke up before it healed they would but she was asleep so they didn't bother. Soon it was night time and another nurse came in to tuck Abby to bed and she said goodnight to her and said "Make sure Abby doesn't eat anything after midnight or the anathestic will make her sick.
