Chapter 9: Romeo
"Kendall?" Jake snapped me from my little daze and nodded his head over to the rest of the group that are going into the cafeteria for food. He furrowed his eyebrows at me and questioning me with his eyes. "You coming?"
"Erm, yeah." My eyes flickered over to Romeo by the gates for a split second before returning to Jake. "Just give me a minute, I'll meet you in there."
Jake looked over at Romeo before his jaw tensed and his fists tightened. "If he tries anything..."
"He won't." I interrupted. "And if he does then I'll tell him to go fuck an egg, okay?"
Jake laughed and nodded his head. "But seriously." He said putting a stern face on. "Zack was wrecked when your friendship ended for a couple months. Please don't let Romeo try anything that will make him heartbroken again alright?"
With that he turned round and disappeared into the cafeteria. I took a deep breath and span round on my heels, Romeo's posture meeting my eyes. He's lent his shoulder against the brick wall, his legs crossed one over the other with his head down and looking at his phone. He looked up, straightened himself and pocketed his phone whilst I walked towards him - my hands in the back pockets of my jeans.
"Hey." I smiled slightly, frozen in my spot in front of him.
"Hi." He replied.
"What are you doing here?" I blurted out before covering my mouth with my hand. "I'm sorry that was rude."
He gave a slight chuckle and shook his head. "Don't worry about it. But to answer your question, Brooklyn and I came down to visit our grandparents for a week or so. I tried to call you but you didn't pick up."
"Um, yeah I've been busy." I said. "You know, what with the movie?"
"No yeah yeah." He rushed. "Well, I came here because I just wanted to say I'm sorry about that text I sent you a couple months ago. I realized it was rude and stupid of me to sent that to you. I also should have been a better friend. So... sorry."
I was a little taken aback at the apology. To be completely honest since I got the text I hadn't thought about it at all. At. All.
"I'm sorry too." I said without even thinking. Words just kept coming out though before I could stop it. "I really should have contacted you back when I had the chance."
Silence fell for a couple minutes as we just stood there awkwardly. Romeo finally broke it by pointing over his shoulder with his thumb. "I should be going."
"Yeah, so should I." I mumbled.
"Let me guess, photo shoot?" Romeo joked making me laugh.
"Um no!" I said sassily. "That's tomorrow, today I'm booked with an interview thank you very much."
Romeo laughed and held his hands up in surrender. "Sorry, forgot your even bigger than you were before."
I smiled at him and shrugged my shoulders. "See you Beckham."
He smirked and turned round. "Later Styles."
"You okay?" Zack whispered in my ear as I slid into the seat next to him. The others were engrossed in their conversation with Brody, Jackson and Katie. Talking about their previous Broadway shows that are bloody brilliant.
"Yeah." I gave him a smile.
"What were you talking about with Romeo?" He asked, biting into a chip and swallowing it quickly.
I took a look at him and noticed a flash of pain wash across his eyes. My hand found his under the table and gave it a squeeze. "Nothing important. He just wanted to apologize about what happened a couple months ago. That's all."
A smile etched on his lips and he nodded. He turned back to the conversation with the others along with myself, only after placing my head against Zack's shoulder and holding tightly onto his hand with both of mine. I only let go when Jen came over, telling me that I needed to get the make up off and to get dressed ready for the plane tonight. I was in jeans, a white vest and black high tops in about five minutes before slipping on my cardigan and returning to my previous position. This time Zack's fingers slid between mine and his hand squeezed mine tightly as I laughed along with the girls about when Lilly and Holly somehow managed to trip Jake over and make him fall down the stairs, resulting in him getting a sprained wrist.
"Come on let's go do something!" Brody groaned. "We've got half an hour before we need to go. Let's go to the shopping center, park, get ice cream-"
He couldn't finish the sentence before Holly and I were up and pulling every one out of their seats.
"Let's go get some ice cream!" We sang dancing out the door making the others laugh. I burst out laughing along with Holly, linking our arms together and letting the others catch up with us before we all headed towards the shopping center for the most delicious frozen food that the world could offer.
(A/N: Hey guys, I am so sorry for this crappy chapter but well, it's simply the fact that I have had huge writers block and I needed something written on here before I go stir crazy. Hopefully the next chapters will be a lot better.)
