Chapter 26: London
"Yeah I'll be there in a second." I tugged my black tee shirt down my stomach as I struggled to shove my feet in my grey high tops without using my hands. It's my last few hours in London until I go to Barbados where I'll get the nights sleep. After that I finally get to see my gorgeous girlfriend for the first time in three weeks.
Josh, Danny, Cece, Holly, Hope, Lilly, Ella and Jake have finished school for the week and are forcing me out today which I guess is a good thing. I won't be dealing with babysitting my baby cousin, Eric. Don't get me wrong I love the little guy and I can always rely on him as a napping partner but there's only so much 'cousin time' I can spend with him.
So that's how I ended up in black jeans, a black tee shirt, a blue denim shirt and grey high tops. After brushing my hair with my fingers quickly I chucked a dark grey snap back on backwards and made sure my dog tags were on show before running down the stairs, swiping my keys off the table by the door and then rushing outside and down the drive.
Running to the park I only spotted a couple paps and a few girls that looked like they wanted to stop me but I managed to spot Josh and Danny before they could.
"If it isn't our little actor." Josh said pinching my cheek. I glared at him and slapped away his hand before we both burst out laughing and gave each other a bro hug. Danny glared at me when I turned to look at him and I remembered the last conversation we had.
"In my defense," I raised my hands in surrender. "you really shouldn't have called my girlfriend hot when yours was in the room."
"Oh my god." Josh burst out laughing and doubled over. "Is that why she didn't talk to you for two days?"
"Fuck off mate!" Danny glowered. "You get a girlfriend and see how hard it is to not piss them off."
"Dude that's easy. Don't call other girls 'hot', whether she's in the room or not." I rolled my eyes.
"See!" Cece's voice accused. "Zack gets it!"
I turned round and suddenly I'm hugging Cece and the girls all in one big group.
"H-hi." I gasped as they all let go.
"Oh my god you're accent's changed!" Ella nearly shouted.
"And you've gotten bigger!"
Comments like that kept rolling in as the girls kept pointing out what's different about me. It's been nearly a year since we've been face to face so the boys and I let them have their moments.
"That's really weird." Josh whispered pretty loudly as he lent over the table. I lent forwards too along with Danny and Jake.
"What is?" Danny asked as I moved back a bit, took off my snap back; ran a hand through my hair then re-positioned my hat on but the right way this time.
"I mean we're all used to people staring at you and Kendall Zack," Josh started. "but when they're our age. You've got two little girls over there staring at you plus college girls." He nodded discreetly towards the corner just as I rested my elbows against the table. "Well and a group our age."
My eyes flicked up towards the table in the corner where sure enough there were maybe ten to fifteen girls all staring in this direction. I flashed them a smile and they all turned to each other, the girls I could see had started hyperventilating and fanning their hands to their faces extremely fast.
The boys burst out laughing and I chuckled along with them. My phone vibrated in my pocket, so whilst still chuckling and shaking my head I slipped it out my jeans and my chuckle died down until I was smiling at the ID.
"I'll be right back." I said before quickly leaving my seat and answering the phone call while walking out the door.
"Hey babe." I smiled.
"Hey," I'm pretty much hearing her smile. "how's it back home?"
I looked up at the sky which is turning grey and then made a 'wincing' sound. "That bad huh?" She laughed.
"Well..." I started in a disappointed tone making her burst out laughing. I shoved my free hand into my pocket and kicked a pebble; sending it flying. "How's Hawaii?"
"Extremely hot." She sighed. "BUT I've finished all my packing and I'm heading to the airport in an hour!"
"Hey you haven't left it to the last minute!" I cheered bursting into a fit of laughter straight afterwards.
"Oh shut it you bastard!" Kendall laughed on the other end. "I'll have you know Bethany literally ended up packing my stuff for me because I was just throwing everything inside and leaving it like that."
"How long's the flight?" I asked aware that I'm also supposed to be at the airport in an hour.
"Urh, wait a sec." There was a rustling sound, a thud, a 'carefully' selected choice of swear words and then an 'ah'. "17 hours at the least... ugh, that's so long!"
"It's not that bad!"
"You can talk!" She replied. "First of all you have Jackson to keep you company, I have two middle aged men complaining about the training schedules and a teenage girl tearing her hair out over Uni work. Second of all you're flight is 8 hours and 20 minutes not over half a bloody day!"
I stayed silent for a minute, pursing my lips to try and contain the laugh that ended up ringing loud and clear. "God I miss you baby."
