After about thirty minutes of driving we finally arrived to the base. "Alright guys lets go."Devon said. We unloaded from the truck and walked up to the big doors that separated the zombies from them. A giant fence surrounded the base too, along with military men.
A military man in a watch tower saw us and aimed his gun at us and yelled , "Put your weapons down and show me your base number!"
Devon stepped up closer and yelled back at him, "We have never been here and we need safety. We can't live out her like this! Please let us in!" The military man nodded his head toward the operator of the doors and he opened the doors and led us into the base.
"So I hint that you guys are new around here." The operator said. Inside of the base was a bunch of little huts made out of wood and the place was covered in guards.
"Yeah we are new here, would you mind to show us around a bit?" Devon asked the man.
"Thats what I am here for." He said. He pointed over at a group of the huts and said,"Thats sector 2 of the base." The sector was pretty big. "There are 10 total sectors in this whole base." We all admired the base.
"Ok I need to assign you guys your own rooms." He pointed at me and said, "Lets start with you, follow me." He walked towards sector 2 and led me to a room. Outside of the room was just...tiny I guess.
He walked me inside of the hut and it was about as big as a dorm room. The contents inside were, a bed, a chair, a toilet, A closet for clothes and a clock, and a little box of goodies. The place was small but pretty nice. Inside of the box of goodies was bottles of water, snacks and a large knife. I pulled the knife out and the operator said,"Thats for self defense just incase anything happens here, but I assure you that nothing will happen since we have so many trained military men."
I asked him,"Isn't there some real food here beside these snacks?"
"Oh yeah..Lunch is at 12:00 every day in the central area just over to the right of here. Dinner is at 6:30, there will be people on megaphones telling you when to go. If you ever get bored just head down to the park and play a variety of games. I am going to need to give you That is pretty much it, and just to let you know, we are trying our hardest to make a new civilization. Well bye."
The operator led Scout outside and left. I ran out of the door and yelled to him, "Hey! The dog stays with me here."
"Mr.Daeger you realize that we can't let yo-"
I yelled at him in the middle of his sentence and said, "If the dog goes, I go." He gave out a sigh and led Scout back over to me.
He came up to me and said, "I will let you have him but if he causes trouble you know that I will have to take him away." I nodded my head in agreement. I shut the door and played with Scout for a bit and then I went to lay down on the bed with him beside me. It was starting to become night.
I just lay there sliding my hands across Scouts smooth and silky fur. As I was petting him I looked out of the window and thought about my fallen friends, Brad, Drew, Kegan, and Noah. I thought about how each of them died. None of them died from a single zombie. All of them died by sacrificing themselves or from Coltons group. They were too young to die, and didn't deserve what happened to them. At that moment I thought about how we all thought that if we were going to die, we were going to die from zombies. They never expected to die the way that they did, but the bigger threats that lie within our lives are the ones we least expect.
