They woke up to pounding on the door.
Chance got up first and opened the door. He saw a group of men in navy blue uniforms, and they said nothing. They stormed in and grabbed Chance by the arm. They slammed in the room, and grabbed Brittany by the arm. Her eyes opened immediately, and she screamed. Chance tried to get out of the man's grip, but he couldn't. Neither could Gabe. Madison was being calm and let them take her away with everyone else.
"Let go of me! What the heck is going on?! Who are you?!" Chance demanded. A very tall man answered him.
"You children have been hiding around the city, taking advantage of everyone, and you owe many people money for the things you've done. You ran away, and have been living everywhere, without parental supervision. You are not eighteen, am I correct? I think I am. So, we're taking you to be questioned. But, I will not be answering any of your questions. Understood?" the man said in disgust. Chance was ticked.
"Look, I don't know who you are, but who told you any of this? I don't care if you said you're not going to answer me, but you will answer me. You have no right to bust in and take us! Where's your warrant?" Chance demanded.
A woman in the back came up and pulled out a piece of paper, and showed it to him.
"I'm sorry, but we have the right to do this. I'm so sorry. Please try to calm down about this. It won't take long." she said with kindness and sincerity in her voice. He nodded, and tried to calm down. Brittany tried to get closer to him, and the man holding her arm let her.
"Chance. I'm scared... I don't know what's going to happen..."she whispered quietly. He whispered back to her.
"I don't know either." he whispered to her. He slipped his hand into hers, and they kept walking. They stepped into a black car, and they drove off to wherever they were going.
They drove for what seemed like forever, and they finally pulled into a huge white building. It didn't look like a great place to be visiting. They were in major trouble now...
"Get out of the car." a man said in a deep, mean, voice at them. He seemed like he was trying to be quiet, but he was yelling at them. They did as they were told.
Brittany was scared, and she just wanted to be near Chance. She wanted to be in his arms. This was terrifying her, and she wanted to go home. Of course, home was an apartment, but it was so much more to her than that. It was a safe place, and it was where she had grown up with Chance there. She wanted to go back, but she couldn't now.
She dragged the escort with her to be near Chance. He held her hand, and told her that they were going to be okay. But, both of them knew that that may be a lie.
They sat down in a white room, and they just held hands, and tried to stay calm.
"Okay. I am just going to say this; you two aren't going to be interrogated like in the movies. I'm just going to ask you what has been going on lately. I won't threaten you, just tell me. What's been going on? I just want to get this over with." a woman said, as she sat down in front of them.
Chance didn't want to say anything. But, Brittany just wanted to leave and go home...
"It's a long story, and we didn't do anything wrong. I hope you have a while to listen." Brittany said. The woman nodded, and Brittany started to explain.
After at least a half an hour later, the woman had gotten the whole story. There was nothing wrong with the story, and she was satisfied.
"So Michelle is your mother! I think you should know that she is the one who told us that you were going around as 'teenage con artists', as she called you. I'm sorry bout this whole thing, but we still have to analyze your story and your friends' story too. You can go now." she said. Chance didn't hesitate to walk out, and neither did Brittany.
