4 and half months later
"Katniss, I am finished do you want to come and see" Peeta is standing in the doorway with a pleased look on his face.
"Yeah, sure" I say excitedly. He has just finished decorating Willows room, he didn't want me to see it until he had finished.
I heave myself of the couch, my nine month pregnant, ready to pop belly makes it harder for me to walk. I often get back pains as well. Peeta takes hold of my hand and helps me up the stairs to the room, making sure I don't trip on anything.
"You ready" He asks when we are outside. I nod. He places his hands over my eyes and leads me into the room.
"Ta DA" He says as he uncovers my eyes.
Oh. My. Gosh.
"Peeta this is, this is amazing" I say stunned. He has painted the walls a soft baby pink colour. The crib is placed in the middle. Teddies cover the top of the draws little butterfly's dangle from the curtain pole.
"I thought you would like it" He says walking up to me. He places his hands onto my big belly.
"What do you think willow? Do you like your room" He asks. She kicks in satisfaction. We both laugh. I can't wait till she is here in my arms, but I just don't think I can make it through the actual birth. People were always brought to my mother when they were in labour, screaming from the pain, not everyone made it through child birth. I have told Peeta that is what I am scare about but he said that he will always be by my side to help me through it.
I spot something on the rocking chair by the book and toy shelf so I wonder over. When I get there it seems to be a very old book, with allot of dust on. It has a blue cover and the title reads 'The Fault in Our Stars'.
"What is this" I ask Peeta as he wonders over to me.
"I found it in the drawers when I was putting her clothes away earlier" He replies. I turn the book over and read what is written on the back. The book seems to be about a girl named Hazel with cancer and she meets a boy named Augustus at a cancer support group, it seems to be a love story. I have never been one for love stories but this one seems interesting. This book must be at least two hundred years old. Because I remember learning about an illness called cancer at school, apparently it took forever to find a cure but eventually they did and now there is no more cancer in this world. I used to hate the generation that lived before us, getting whatever they wanted, no children sent into an arena to kill each other. But now I understand, both generations had their own horrors. One had the horror of getting cancer and not knowing whether you would live or die, having to use all the strength you had to battle the horrible disease. The other generation had the games haunting them, not knowing whether you would be reaped or not and if you were not knowing whether you would survive, using all your physical strength to fight the other tributes.
A pain shoots through my back, I squeeze my eyes shut. To try and stop it from hurting as bad but unfortunately that doesn't help.
"Katniss are you okay" A very concerned Peeta asks. The next thing I know I am sat in a pool of water.
"Peeta. She is coming" I say scared. Peeta runs over to me and picks me up.
"Katniss, it is going to be okay" he says as he carry's me downstairs. He opens the door and helps me into the car. It doesn't take us long to get there.
When we get there Peeta tells me to stay here whilst he runs up to the receptionist.
A minute or so later he is back with a doctor and a push along bed. They help me onto it.
"Everything is going to be okay" He says as he kisses me.
"Peeta" I say.
"Stay with me" I ask.
I am pushed through endless corridors and it seems like forever until we reach the room. I am given a clean nightgown which Peeta helps me change into. The pain comes more often and every time it comes I scream.
"I don't think I can do this Peeta" I say, feeling weak from all the screaming.
"Katniss, just hold on. You have survived the games twice so you can definitely make it through this" Peeta says, trying to reassure me.
"The boy's right" I hear a voice behind me say. I turn over to see Haymitch standing in the doorway.
"Haymitch" I say confused. Wondering how the hell he knew I was here.
"Hey sweetheart" He says. He walks over to me and takes hold of my free hand.
Dr Lydia comes in along with a nurse called Suzie. She tells me when my next contraction comes that I must push. I do just that when it comes, along with and ear piercing scream.
"Just one more big push and she will be here." Suzie finally says. I give it all I can when the next one comes and as soon as I’m finished I hear a baby's scream fill the room. I flop down onto the pillow exhausted. Dr Lydia cleans her up and wraps her into a blanket and then hands her over to me. I don't know how real it feels until I have her in my arms. Is this beautiful little creature mine and Peetas creation? I hold her for a while and admire her. After a while I plant a kiss onto her head and hand her over to Peeta. She opens her eyes as soon as Peeta takes hold of her.
"She has your eyes Peeta" I say in awe. Her blue eyes lock onto Peetas face and that's when I know they will have a special bond.
"Hello" Peeta says after a while. I can't help but smile, his eyes are full of love.
"Can I hold her" Haymitch asks.
Peeta plants a kiss onto her head and hands her over to Haymitch.
"Hello my little granddaughter" He says. He seems to be crying. I can't help but smile.
Eventually Haymitch plants a kiss onto her head and hands her back to me.
"What is her name" Suzie asks after a while.
"Willow Rue Mellark"
