1. Author's Note
I don't even... I can't even... What am I...? For God's sake, where do I...?
*Takes a deep breath followed by a deep-throated growl. Clears throat*
Whatever it is people say these days to greet each other...
Ahoy! 'Ahoy' was the one I was looking for. Ahoy, all.
EHMAHGAAAD, it's been so long xD. I don't even know half of you anymore. The Shadownight expansion is real, guys :o, it's real. We are going to be the biggest, most awesome family on Movellas. BUUUUT, it is a little bit sad that I haven't integrated with the lot of you as much as I used to since Kennedy got kidnapped and I chased after her with Thomas's idiot half-brother (wasn't voluntary, I just happened to meet him along the way), but when it came to freeing her - Kenny decided that she wanted to star in a seven-year gladiatorial tournament, and so we allowed her to. She eventually won, but passed-out and went into a coma. We didn't really get far after that - according to the chapters written by Queenie, she'd absconded (yes, I am using that word. ABSCONDED) to Poland during the seven years I was in Italy, and became a very reputable veteran and made a gardening-tool gun her trademark weapon (scythes are gardening tools. I will stand by that. Simon agrees. I've actually used one in this respect back-home, but that's a different, non-fictional story).
And I don't know how long it's been, but we haven't updated the story since then.
Which is sad. Because it was awesome. Nay, IS awesome. 17 likes and 300+ comments xD Doesn't get better than that, folks.
But, I'm calling a do-over, hmm? I know we've expanded, and there are more sub-families to join now. I should have it sorted by now and there should be two family-trees attached - one of our family and one of the ancestry we'll be exploring through the account, which is Thomas's forefathers and foremothers, and so forth (which, by the way, I had to ask - ISN'T THE COVER JUST AWESOME. ISN'T IT. ISN'T IT), which is the Rogue family. I have some awesome stories planned, it's going to be legen-waitforit-DARY! (I have HIMYM fever, sorry.)
In the Interest of Non-Shadownights or New Shadownights.
If any of my other fans/followers/stalkers are reading this, you either think
(a) I have gone completely insane, if I've only recently become acquainted with you
(b) I've gone back to my normal self if you've known me longer than a year.
But let's face it, my Author's Notes are the bomb. I haven't written one in such a long time.
The world suffers without them.
Anyway, there isn't much to go on for you guys, if you don't include the Shadownight Legacy (which should be in one of the lists on the right-hand side).
This is going to be something like that: drama, drama, drama, substantial violence, drama, implausible criminal activity, drama, drama, as often as not a marriage or an engagement - followed by a story from the past, of one of our "ancestors" - then more drama and intrigue and anxiety and Thomas. If you want to know Shadownight history, feel free to have a look through the first Legacy story, the anecdotes are quite clearly marked between our nonsensical drama.
I might make a separate movella with just the ancestral stories in them... Anyway.
Note About the Context
*Mentally prepared to be booed-down by Simon and others* The Legacy isn't technically set in the past, but it might as well be. I think it accommodates and translates some of our nonsense into something more understandable and applicable. Like, I don't think I would be using a sword or Thomas would be a pirate or Kenny could be a gladiator in present times xD. So we don't have any modern vehicles or weapons or such things.
Additionally, we haven't gone too far out into fantasy. A little magic and intrigue has been integrated (Georgia is a sorceress) but we've agreed that we don't want to go over the top. It was a lot crazier in the beginning, but I'm aware of there now being angels, demons, vampires and anthros? I'm going to have to smooth them out into something like cults and magic? Just so it makes sense, guys xD.
Here's a brief description of our times:
“...Our plots of land – in Normandy, and (at Asa’s disposal) in Bengal – were safe from monarchical hands, but the rest of the world… they were suffering again, in constant war. I suppose I should be grateful, it’s the kind of thing that I make money out of, but it bites with anxiety.
The main superpowers in Europe were of King Francis V of France (who called on my service often, as I was near at hand in Normandy) and Queen Isabella VIII of Spain (who despised me thoroughly). I got the odd commission from the crippling monarch of Britain, King Henry XII, and the lecherous dictator of Italy, King Silvio I (who, I believed, commissioned me more for his own entertainment, than fighting wars – since he never seemed to take the latter seriously and enjoyed irritatingly long conversations with me).
In Asia, things were more complicated – much to the thanks of my younger brother, Asa – as the larger nations had been divided, at first by tribalism, and later split into independent countries. Things were no better off in Africa and the Americas, but we had no land there, so news of those continents were scarce and commissions: rare...”
It also important to know about a conspiratorial group that shadows our global politics:
“...There were pockets of nihilist groups – mafia groups, if you will – all dotting the world with their hatred and corruption – assassinating leaders and causing raucous to help cripple the world in its current state. Though… I suppose I’m not one to judge. I’m sure they have their reasons for the ways they feel and act. The most common nihilist group are the Chess Pieces, and perhaps my only true rival...”
The Chess Pieces tend to float in and out of the story. I think there are two Shadownights in the past that were Chess Pieces... Crion and X.47, I think.
But what am I missing...?
I think that's it for now. I should update as soon as we have the new tree and ancestry sorted. Until then, make some drama guys xD and enjoy the story. The last one was fun to write and, as it turned out, an incredible read.

P.S.: Ooh, ooh, I know what I was missing! In the story, Thomas, and myself would be well into our sixties (Georgia and Asa would be somewhere in their fifties). So I figured out a way to "preserve" our youth. Anyone like pirate stories? :D
