(NOTE: I wrote this two years ago for a school project. It's pretty terrible because I wrote it all the night before it was due.) Medieval Romance in which a girl leaves home, a wizard makes a deal, and a prince finds true love.

13. The Woman

Four years later, it was little Roesia’s birthday and her father went into the forest where he would hopefully find a large pheasant to bring home for the celebration feast.  His wife had told him multiple times not to enter the woods, but he always believed she was like any other woman.  She was scared of whatever monster she had convinced herself lived there.  He had decided to humor her by listening to her ply.  He had never gone under those great oaks before, but he never saw a reason not to.  The famine had finally ended over a year ago, but the market was insanely overpriced because few people had risked starting their farming again in case another drought occurred and they lost all the crops.  The only way to get a decent meal now was to kill it yourself in the wilderness.  His wife never had to know where he had gone.  He would just tell her he had found the bird already dead on the road from his trip from town.  His wife wouldn’t have a clue.
