It was 11:30 am Marietta time when I got home. I switched over from Niall’s car to mine and drove to Mom and Daddy’s house. I would be spending the rest of Christmas there. On the way, I called them to let them know Brittney and I were coming. Daddy answered.
“Hi, it’s Josie. I’m coming over,” I said.
“What?! It’s Christmas Eve! I thought you were in Ireland with Niall!”
“I was…but something happened.”
“I’ll explain when I get there.”
Brittney and I got to Mom and Daddy’s house an hour later. I gathered Brittney and our bags and rang the doorbell. Mom answered the door, and Brittney jumped out of my arms and hugged her.
“Hi, Gamma!” she said.
“Hi, sweetie!” Mom said, picking Brittney up.
“She’s too young to grasp what happened between me and Niall,” I explained on Brittney’s happiness to see Mom.
“Well, come on in. Tell me what happened.”
I followed her inside, and we sat on the couch. “Well…I saw Niall kissing another girl underneath the mistletoe.”
“Oh, that’s horrible! Who was the girl?”
“An ex of his that his dad invited over because he thought Niall was still single.”
“I’m so sorry that happened. Wanna join us for lunch?”
I sighed. “No thanks. I’m not hungry. I’ll just watch sappy Christmas movies all day and then go to bed.”
Mullingar, Niall’s POV
I was watching a sappy Christmas movie to get my mind off Josie when I felt someone sit on the couch with me. I looked over to see Lindsey.
“Ni-Ni alwight?” she asked.
“No, Uncle Niall’s not alright,” I said.
“Because Josie left me.”
“She thought I was kissing another girl.”
“Sing Josie a song! That’s what you do with One Diwection, wight?”
“Yeah…” I thought about it. Then, I thought of the perfect song to sing to get Josie back—Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You”. “Lindsey, you are a two-year-old genius!” I gave her a hug and a big kiss. “Tomorrow morning after we open presents, I’ll fly back home and win Josie back!”
Marietta, Josie’s POV
I was sound asleep when I heard a little voice say, “Mummy, wakey! It Kiss-mas! Santa came!”
I groaned as I rolled over and opened my eyes. I didn’t care that it was Christmas. Niall had ruined it for me. I saw Daddy holding Brittney. I sighed as I got up. “Okay, let’s go see what Santa brought you,” I said unenthusiastically.
“Honey, cheer up! It’s Christmas!” Daddy said.
“Niall ruined it for me. I hate Niall, I hate One Direction, and I hate Christmas!”
I went downstairs and watched as everyone else opened their presents.
An hour later, we (well, they) were all done opening presents when Brittney toddled up to me with a sad look on her face. “Mummy, why didn’t I get no presents? I been a good giwl!”
“Yes, you have, sweetie!” I said, putting her on my lap. “Maybe Santa sent them all to Grandpa’s in Ireland.”
Just then, the doorbell rang. I got up to answer it.
