"Okay dad I think that was the last suitcase," I yell to him.
The last few months have been difficult. After my mother and older brother passed away in a car accident my dad and I had a hard time adjusting. He went crazy into work trying to distract himself and that left me to defend myself alone.
After a month had gone by since they passed I sat down my father and told him we had to change our situation we were living in. Him working all the time and me being alone when I wasn't at school. I told him we should move. To start over fresh somewhere.
So here we are now packing everything up and moving to Holmes Chapel.
"Alright Amanda. Go ahead and get in the car. I'll be right there," he says from his old bedroom. I head out to the car and sit in the passenger seat. I pull out my phone and look at my missed messages.
Do you really have to go?? I'm going to miss you too much ~Lindsey
Lindsey, my best friend since third grade. She has been there for every up and down in my life. Telling her that we were moving was easily the hardest thing I've had to do in a long time. When I told her we were leaving as soon as the school year ended she nearly freaked out in the middle of our school's cafeteria.
We can still text and FaceTime whenever you want! -Mandy
By now my father was locking the front door for the last time and heading towards the car.
"You ready mandz?" He asks while hoping into the overly packed car.
"Ready as I'll ever be," I tell him with a sigh.
From there we drove to the airport talking about how good of an opportunity we have and what we should do first when we get there. We decided on finding the first tourist shop we see and buying the most ridiculous thing there.
By the time we got to the airport, checked our luggage in, and got past customs it was 6:05am and our flight left at 7:00 am. We walked over to our boarding area and sat down.
"Hey dad I'm going to go get a Starbucks. Do you want anything?" I asked getting up.
"No it's fine. I actually intend on sleeping on the flight," he chuckled.
I walked over to the Starbucks stand and ordered a white chocolate mocha.
"So where you off to?" the Barista asked.
"Off to England," I told her.
"Well have a nice trip!" She said as I walked away.
I sat back down next to my father and checked my phone.
Okay fine but call me as soon as you land in England -Lindsey
I text her back saying alright and I'll miss her lots. By then it was 6:30 and the plane should be boarding soon.
"Dad wake up. We are going to board soon I think," I tell him while shaking him.
Soon enough, "Now boarding the plane to London, England," was booming over the intercom. We got up and grabbed our bags and headed on to the plane.
"No turning back now," my dad says while buckling his seat belt.
"You're right about that," I tell him while putting in my ear buds and drifting off to sleep.
