5. Next Phase
“So…last few days of summer before you officially leave.” Harry said slowly to me as we were sitting on his roof looking at the stars.
“Yeah I guess so…” I said slowly.
“Are you excited?”
“I am but I'm also really nervous to leave too.”
“Hey you'll do great.” Harry said, pulling me closer to him.
“I like to think that. I'm just scared to completely leave the country and everything will change.”
“Well we won't change.” Harry said softly.
“I hope not. Being across the world from you makes me nervous.”
“That's understandable but you'll be amazing.” Harry kissed my head and we settled into a comfortable silence.
Harry and I spent the last few days of summer doing as much as we could, spending as much time as we possibly could together.
“So how's this for a going away party?!” Niall yelled over the music when Harry and I walked into his house. I laughed and smiled.
“It looks great.” I said as Adrienne walked up with a drink.
“Hey girl! Let's live this night up!” I laughed, taking the drink. “So are you excited to be moving forward with life?!”
“Scared but yeah.”
“Oh fuck let's not focus on that; let's focus on the fact that tonight is gonna be fucking sick as hell!” I giggled again as Sarah and Bradie walked up.
“Hey! Where have you been?! Beer pong right now!” Bradie yelled. We all laughed as they pulled me over to the beer pong tables to get the party started.
I watched Bethany play beer pong with Adrienne, Bradie, and Sarah while I was over to the side with my friends. I half smiled, knowing this was the second to last night I had with her.
“You got this.” Zayn said.
“I like to hope so.”
“If anyone can do this long distance thing, it's you guys. I mean, Zayn can't even hold a relationship right here in town and you guys got through fucking Lex and her shit!” Louis exclaimed, drunk as hell. We all laughed as we saw Lex walk through the door.
“Why the hell is she here?” Liam demanded. We all looked over at her and then all turned to Niall.
“Did you invite her?” Zayn asked.
“What? I invited everyone…”
“What can we expect. It's Niall; go big or go home.” I said, making everyone laugh.
For the rest of the night, we danced, played beer pong, did keg stands, and the big Niall surprise- set off fireworks for Bethany. She was the only one of all of us going out of the country for college which was a huge deal so we had to go big. She seemed so happy this night. But tomorrow, this would be a totally different story.
I was laying in bed the night before I was leaving for America. I was going to head off to Princeton for college and Harry was going to stay here and I was nervous as all damn hell on top of being sad.
I wasn't able to sleep; was just staring at the ceiling as Harry slept curled into my side like a little puppy. It frightened me that this was the last night for a long time that I would have him curled up to me like this, or the last party we'd go to together in awhile, or the last night we'd go to the beach, or stare at the stars together…
“Babe…?” Harry grumbled. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, fine. Just go back to sleep.” He mumbled something however I couldn't make it out. He just pulled me closer and snuggled right back into me.
So here it is…the day to leave. Harry, Niall, Zayn, Liam, Louis, Sarah, Bradie, and Adrienne, and mine and Harry's family had come to the airport to see me off.
“You'll do great daring! Well video chat all the time!” I nodded, trying to hold back tears.
All my friends gave me hugs and said their goodbyes, and then I reached Harry.
“Four years.” Harry whispered.
“Four years.” I whispered back.
“I love you; I always wanted you more.”
“I'll always want you more. I love you.” I whispered.
“I love you forever.” Harry said, grabbing my hands. He leaned in and kissed me long and hard before stepping back. “Video chat or call me when you land and get settled in?”
“Of course.” I said, tears forming. Harry gave me a weak smile as I started walking towards my gate. I waved one last time before boarding the plane.
