Hi, my name is Amber Navarro. I'm 16 years old, with two brothers--one younger named Jacob, one older named Michael. This Christmas is one I will never forget. You know why? Because all the present under the tree are gonna be for me! I told my parents that if all the presents aren't for me, I'll run away. They totally bought it. You should've seen their faces. It was a moment to die for!
Anyway, my family has this weird tradition that we open one present the night before Christmas Eve. Apparently, we save Christmas Eve for family dinner time. So, we all gathered around the tree. I was looking under the tree for my presents. I was throwing everyone else's out of my way, not caring if it was fragile or not. I just wanted my presents. When I pulled the last present from under the tree to see it wasn't mine, I threw a tantrum.
"Mom! Dad! How could you do this to me?! We made a deal--you promised," I screamed at the top of my lungs. I'm sure the whole neighborhood could hear me, but I didn't care.
"No, sweetie, you made the deal. We just listened. We are doing this to teach you a lesson about giving back. Christmas is not all about what you got, but who you got it from," Mom replied in her annoyingly sweet tone.
"Your mother's right, Amber. You should learn to give and not just get." My dad simply stated holding my mom's hand.
"Whatever." I said rolling my eyes.
"Bambi, chill," Michael cut in, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Don't touch me!" I practically shouted, shoving his his away from me.
"Amber Nicole Navarro, don't speak in that tone of voice to your family. Apologize this instant."
I scoffed,"I'd rather marry a donkey."
"I thought you were already dating one." I turned with wide eyes toward Jacob. I never though he'd say that considering he and Mason were best friends.
"You're a *****!"
Okay, that was probably a bad choice of words--especially considering my parents were in the same room.
Dad stared at me incredulously. "Amber! Go to your room at once. You can join us when you get your attitude in check."
I stomped my way up to my room and slammed my door closed. I laid on my bed for maybe ten minutes until I decided to take a walk to help cool off some steam. I got out of bed, changed, and went downstairs and left without saying a word to anyone. I'm sure they'll understand.
As I was walking I got a text from Mason. I thought he was gonna show me a picture of what he got me for Christmas, but instead he sent me a list of what he wants. I've never shopped for other people. It's just not my thing. I looked over the text until I bumped into something. I looked up and saw.......a door?
Why would there be a door in the middle of a sidewalk with nothing attached to it. I feel like I've seen this sort of situation in a movie or something. The door comes up, the person walks through, then they're in another world. That couldn't possibly be like right now, could it? I can't believe it. I'm going crazy! Talking about things that happened in movies.
I opened the door and when I looked through, all I saw was the other side of the sidewalk that the door had been blocking. I put my hand through the door, when I felt something weird. My hand went through the door and I couldn't see the rest of it. My hand completely disappeared from sight. How is this possible?
I started pulling my hand back when something pulled me all the way through the door.
What's going on? What is this?
