6. Michael L. Valcrez
I sat and stared at the perpetual motion of the two marbles moving from chamber to chamber on the map. The movement was so fluid, it looked like a ghost was pushing them. Maybe there was a ghost pushing them. I took off my backpack as discretely as possible and pulled out a ghost detector on I bought on E-bay for twenty dollars. I knew that bringing this along was a good idea. I flipped a switch and swiveled around, pointing it straight out. There was not a beep, no ghosts. Disappointed, I put the machine back into my backpack. I pulled out my walkie-talkie and spoke into it.
“Hey, just keep going straight from where you are and you’ll reach the center room.”
“Okay.” Clara responded in a muffled tone.
I watched as they walked, occasionally pausing once or twice.
“Michael, I found a surprise for you in one of these rooms, and don’t worry it’s not bad. It’s actually kind of heavy, but it’s cool. Trust me.” I heard Christian say into the walkie-talkie.
I wasn’t sure what to think of Christian’s surprise, but I hoped I could trust what he said.
Then, when they were one room away from the red marble, the red marble shifted and started to move.
“Oh my God.” said Clara with a sense of alarm in her voice.
