We walked into the center chamber and saw one of the scariest things I’ve ever seen. It was scarier than any serial killer, or evil demon, or anything else from any horror movie. In the center of the room sat a gigantic beast. It skin was scaly and brown, and its tail had huge spikes on it. It had seven heads that each looked like a dragon’s with drool dripping teeth that looked like white daggers. The worst part wasn’t its appearance; it was the fact that it was awake, and staring hungrily at us. It probably hadn’t had meal in a thousand years, and his hunger could be quenched with our flesh. It stepped closer to us, and it suddenly began to speak.
“Hello little ones,” it said with a sly voice, “what brings you here?”
“We are h-h-here to see what the C-C-Cave had ins-s-side.” I whimpered in terror.
“Oooh! Explorers aren’t you, I haven’t eaten one of those for a while.” the beast said.
“Wait, EAT?!” exclaimed Clara.
“Yes, eat. I haven’t eaten in quite some time, and you shall be my next meal.” said the thing, licking his lips.
“Michael,” I said quietly into the walkie-talkie, “stop whatever you’re doing, and get out of the Cave, ASAP.”
We backed off slowly, not making any sudden movements, but I had a feeling that only worked in the movies. The beast shrieked and started to charge. I started to run faster than I ever had before in my life. We ran until we reached the entrance of the Cave and we tied the ropes onto our harnesses and started to climb out of the Cave. Michael had a head start, but was climbing slower because he didn’t know the extreme danger of the situation. My arms were sore and my palms had rips on them, but I didn’t stop because I knew these were much less painful than getting eaten by some monster. When we got out we scrambled to take off our climbing gear and run as far away from the Cave as possible. I heard one last ear blasting shriek and then the monster thumped away.
“Hey Christian, what was that surprise you had for me?” Michael asked.
I had almost forgotten about the surprise after the experience we had down there.
“I found this monstrosity of a rock down in one of the chambers.” I said as I pulled a green crystal out of my backpack.
“I’ve never seen one of these before.” Michael said, his eyes locked onto the rock. “Thanks man!”
“No problem.” I said. “It’s a bit of consolation for not getting to come with Clara and I.
We both laughed and sat down on the grass and I realized that everyone was safe, and alive. Nothing had gone completely wrong, and all was good.
