"I can't believe Sean is doing this for you." said Bailee, as we sat at a table eating our lunch.
"I know, it's crazy. I really wish people would stop staring at me." I said, as I looked over at a table with a group of girls looking at me and whispering things to each other.
I was no longer wearing all those big sweatshirts. I was letting my baby bump show through and everyone was staring at me. There was some speculation that it was Luke's, but Bailee spread a rumor, that Sean and I hooked up right after Luke and I broke up because I was so upset over the breakup. I had to admit, she had very good rumor spreading skills.
"I know." said Bailee.
"This is getting annoying." I said.
Then Bailee turned to them and said, "Yeah, she's pregnant. Get over it. It's not like she's the only pregnant girl out there."
The girls all got really red and turned around quickly.
"I cannot believe you just did that." I said, smiling.
"Well, they act like they've never seen a pregnant girl before." she said, annoyed.
"Well, you can't really blame them. After all I am the biggest gossip story in like 10 years."
"Yeah, nothing exciting ever happens in this town. It'll be better when we go to college." said Bailee.
"Yeah, about that..."
"Don't tell me you're wimping out?"
"Going to an out of town college just doesn't seem like an option." I said.
"We always talked about going to college together and getting out of this town." she said.
"That was before all this happened."
"Come on, the Lexi I know would never let anything stop her from dreams."
"I just don't know, Bailee. Life was just so much simpler back then, but now everything is different." I said.
"I know, but we can get through this together. I know you don't want to live here the rest of your life." she said.
She was right I didn't.
"Come on, we're going to be late for geometry." I said, picking up my tray.
We walked to geometry in silence. When we got there we sat in our usual spots and took out our books. When the bell rang the teacher walked in with a blonde girl who I had never seen before.
"Class, this is Tess. She just moved here from New York. Why don't you go sit next to Alexa?" he said, pointing at the chair next to me.
She walked over and sat down next to me. I gave her a smile to show that I was friendly.
"Alright class, I want to continue with the group assignment we started yesterday. Tess you can just join any group." he said.
"You can join us." I said.
"Thanks." she said, scooting her chair closer to us.
"I'm Alexa and this is Bailee."
"Nice to meet you. Aren't you dating Michael Clifford from 5 Seconds of Summer?" she asked.
"Yeah, that's me." she said.
"And you're dating Luke Hemmings. Oh and you guys are having a baby!" she said, pointing at my stomach.
"Oh no, Luke and I aren't together anymore. This isn't his baby." I said, I was starting to feel sick to my stomach and that wasn't from the baby.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't know." she said, looking uncomfortable.
"It's ok. You didn't know." I said.
"So you wouldn't mind if I started asking about Calum?" she asked.
"No, of course not. Calum's pretty cool." I said, smiling.
"You wouldn't mind introducing me to him, would you?" she asked.
"Sure, maybe when Michael comes to visit next month, he could bring Calum with him." said Bailee.
"That would be so cool!" exclaimed Tess.
"Maybe he could bring Luke too." said Bailee, looking at me.
"Bailee, what's it going to take for you to understand that I don't want to talk to him." I said.
"You need him." said Bailee.
"No, I don't. I'm perfectly happy without him." I said, forgetting Tess was still sitting with us.
"Wait a minute, this is Luke's baby." said Tess.
"Please keep your voice down." I said, looking around to make sure no one heard anything.
"Does he know?" she asked.
"Yeah, but he's to big of prick to do anything to help her." said Bailee.
"Be quiet, Bailee. You can't just blame him." I said.
"Why can't I?" asked Bailee.
"He didn't do this all by himself."
"Yeah, but neither did you and you shouldn't have to do it by yourself." said Tess.
"Could we just not talk about it anymore? I would appreciate it if you wouldn't tell anyone." I said.
"Don't worry, your secret's safe with me." she said.
The bell rang and class was over. We had made no progress on the assignment, so we made plans to hang out at Bailee's tonight and finish the assignment.
"Thanks for inviting me over. It's really hard making friends in new schools." said Tess, as we walked in the hallway.
"Do you move around a lot?" asked Bailee.
"Yeah, I've transfered schools almost every year since I was eight, but we're staying here until I graduate."
"Wow, that's insane. That would be great moving around all the time, nothing ever happens here." said Bailee.
"It's not really as fun as it sounds. I can never have real friends because of it."
"That sounds lonely." I said.
"Yeah, but at least I get to stay here until I graduate." said Tess.
"Yeah, we're happy you're staying too. We can all graduate together." said Bailee.
"Yeah, it's great. So are we still on for tonight?" I asked.
"Yep, thanks again for inviting me." said Tess, walking away.
"She's nice." said Bailee.
"Yeah, she is." I said.
This is Tess.
