The Boy I Can't Have

Olivia is just like any other normal teenage girl...other than the fact that she gets up everyday at 5 am to work for barely any money to pay for her family. She isn't popular and has no self-confidence. Alice, on the other hand, couldn't be more different. She is cool, sexy and every boy's dream. This isn't the story of two girls from different backgrounds meeting and becoming best friends. No. What if these two girls were actually the same girl? And what if one day she met Justin Bieber...who wasn't all that different to Alice or Olivia?

1. Chapter One -

I'm not going to lie to you. Although it won't be long before I am lying to everyone else. I am a loser, a nobody. I have no friends and no future. I go to high school and I'm not stupid but I'm not going anywhere either. I work in a lousy diner to get whatever pay I can so my mom can buy me and my brothers food. I've never had a boyfriend and I've never had a friend. To top it all off, I can't make being a failure look good because I'm as ugly as they come. I'm Olivia May Brown.

"Are you going tonight?" "Hey what are you wearing?" "Have you got a date yet?" "Oh I can't wait!" "Have you heard the new boy is going?" Is what I heard as I walked down the corridor. The endless chatter about the Homecoming dance to which I will not be going to. I never go to anything like that.

I work my way through the day, wishing away the minutes so I can be back home. But when I get home I have a nasty surprise in store.

"Do you like it? Look I know it's fancy but I thought you deserved a night out!" My mom holds up a long, flowing, midnight blue dress, her smile stretching across her face.

"Mom?! How much did this cost you?" I yelled.

"Is that all you think about? Not thank you mom just what was the price tag?" She seemed so upset and offended.

"I'm sorry I just don't understand. We barely have any money and you splurge it all on this!"

"I just wanted to spend a bit of money on my gorgeous daughter. You never go out because of me and I got my wages today and...come on its homecoming!" She really just wanted me to be happy. "Shall I help you get ready?"

I couldn't say no, she had just spent all her money on me and as much as I despised the idea...that dress would go beautifully with my blond hair.

"Go on then!"

We had three hours to get me ready and by the end I was so tired I almost didn't go! Mom curled my short shoulder length hair perfectly and applied just the right amount of makeup. The dress looked sensational and it was paired with the most amazing heels. I felt like a princess and I looked like one too! Very different to my usual self, I was barely recognisable!

"You ready to go?"

"I'm ready! Thanks mom" I kissed her on the cheek and started to walk to the school which was only down the road.

When I got there the hall was decorated from top to bottom. It looked incredible. It was packed with people mingling and chatting and dancing and kissing. I walked in and everybody stared at me. The people in front of me immediately split up to make a path for me. Everyone around me started whispering. "Who's the new girl?" "I thought it was just a new boy?" "Who is she?" "She's so hot!" "How haven't I seen her before?" A guy walked up to me and whispered in my ear: "who do we have here then?". I could barely hear him over the noise but I replied with my name.

"Olivia."

"Huh?"

"Olivia!"

"What?"

"Oli-"

"Ali? You're name is Ali, like Alice?"

"What? No it's-"

"Everybody Alice is in the house!" He shouted out to the crowd around us and everybody cheered. What was going on? People from all directions started coming up to me and offering me drinks and asking to dance, this sort of thing never happened to me. Nobody even knew my real name in this same hall just a few hours before.

About an hour went and I had just been standing at the side, leaning against a wall and refusing every offer that got made. I should have grasped this opportunity but I didn't know how to position myself in this kind of situation. How was I supposed to know what to say or what to do or how to dance? Suddenly the music seemed to quieten and the excited rambling got louder and louder. The atmosphere was tense. I didn't know what was going on. Until he walked in. It couldn't be...could it? But there he was, Justin Bieber himself.
