42. Forty two
The day is really fun. We end up all going outside and sitting in the garden because the weather's nice and I really get to know Jem that day. He's really funny, the kind of person who is always making a witty comment about something and he's fun and we like a lot of the same things. He's one of those people who is just really easy to get along with and we're all getting along with him nicely.
I wonder if Johanna is watching all these different people in her life coming together and feeling the way I do when I watch her get along with Alexander. Obviously all of my friends get along with Alexander, but Johanna especially. Johanna's always been good at making friends and I think she needed somebody like Alex to be her friend that is into the same things as her because none of us are into the things she is really, like the cars and everything. It just makes me love Alex more, knowing that he's impacted my friends as well and I wonder if Johanna likes watching me get along with Jem like she gets along with Alex.
Alex has been talking with Carrie and Johanna whilst Jem and I have been debating about something we saw on TV earlier and Alice has sort of been helping me out with my argument but agreeing with Jem sometimes. Jem is in the middle of making a point when Alex rolls over from speaking to the others and drapes an arm over me, kissing my cheek. I automatically relax back into him.
"I hope you're not being too mean, Jem." he jokes.
"If anybody's being mean, it's Kaya." Jem replies, a teasing look in his eye as he scowls at me.
"Alex, he is being so mean." I add and Alex chuckles, kissing my cheek.
"I've gotta go, Kay. I've got some dinner to go to with my Dad's colleagues." he says, getting up.
"Okay, call me later."
"Love you." he says and then smiles at everyone. "See you guys."
Everybody says goodbye and a little while later, Johanna has to go out for some job interview so everybody goes to their separate homes and I wait in my room for Alex's call. Maybe that's not how love should be, staying up and waiting for calls, but then again maybe that's exactly how it should be.
