It seemed like bad luck was just attacking Troy. Everything had been going wrong, but him being him, he tried to let it go. But, his parents disappearing, this was just too much. Rebecca and Maria had tried to be closer to him, trying to comfort him. But, it didn't do much good. He sat in the tree house, just staring at the roof.
"God, how does this happen? My parents disappear off the map? I'm living in a tree house? This sucks." he thought to himself. He knew it sounded harsh, but he knew that he had his two best friends to be there for him. They may be girls, but at least they cared. Not very many people care, until it's too late to care or know what happened at all.
Rebecca climbed up to the tree house, and she looked at him, almost like she wanted to cry. He didn't know what to say. What do you say to your best friend when your parents have went missing? Nothing. She didn't say anything. She just went over to him, and she gave him a look of sadness. Gosh, this was killing them all.
"Hi." he said trying to break the awkward silence. She waited in few seconds and responded.
"Hello. You okay?" Rebecca said. He just nodded and looked away.
Rebecca was having mixed emotions on this whole thing. She wanted to punch someone, but she wanted to help him out through this. She wanted to hug him, but she didn't know if it'd just make things worse, or if he'd shove her away. She knew how guys could be, so she didn't want to do anything stupid. This was hard. But, she knew that it was much harder on him than it was anyone else that she ever knew. She really wanted to punch someone. She was known for her kindness, but little did anyone know, she did have negative feelings, and she did feel the need for violence sometimes.
He looked back at her, and she looked kind of sad. He didn't know what to say. She didn't either. They sat there in silence. Maria came up and she didn't say anything either. More awkward silence...
"Look, I... I want you to know, I'm here for you... I know this is rough... ummm... I'm always here for you. Just so you know..." Maria said, pausing often. Troy appreciated that. But, it didn't help much. He nodded and whispered 'thanks'. Rebecca wanted to say something, but she couldn't find the words for it. She sat there thinking and it came to her.
"I'm here for you too. I know that things seem like they're... fallinga apart... I get that. But, I'm here for you." Rebecca said. She just ruined everything. She probably made him feel worse.
He smiled a little. She always tried to say stuff like that, but it never came out right.
"Thanks guys. It does make me feel a little better knowing that I have such awesome friends." he said, as the smile faded.
They sat there in silence, and nothing was said for a long time. Troy sat there thinking about everything. This sucked...
