Today was my birthday. It had been three days since I had came here. My mom, dad, and brother sent me some money, and some new Jordans. It had been a couple of awkward days here, at the dorm room. Caleb’s friends keep coming in and out just to see me. Sometimes I wonder what Caleb does when I’m sleeping and defenseless. Whatever, I have to push that thought out of my head.
“Brogan! Happy birthday!” Paul screamed, while running into my room.
“Hey, Paul. What’s up with you? You’re never up this early.” I asked him. He isn’t ever up this early from what I have heard. He’s the kind of guy who likes to sleep until eight at night, and then party the rest of the night like there’s no tomorrow.
“I’m not missing your birthday. Your teachers want you to start your classes today, though. That’s the main reason I came in here. So get ready, you have a busy day ahead of you. Oh, and to finish your question you texted me, I’m 16, like Ryan. He’s my roommate.” He said.
“Okay, what if I said I liked someone. Would I get switched rooms?” I asked. I kinda had this thing going for Caleb.
“Do you like my brother?” He asked me. He looked sad, too. I pushed the thought away.
“Maybe a little bit. I kind of like this other guy, too. But I can’t figure out a way to tell him.” I explained. “But being serious now. Would I get switched rooms if I was to start dating him? I like this room, that and I’m too lazy to move all of my stuff.” I told him.
“You wouldn’t have to switch rooms, just be careful. He’s not the kind of person to be in a relationship with. He like to play girls, especially his roommates. That’s why he always picks the new girls. That’s why you got assigned to this room, he chose you first, even though he didn’t know what you looked like.” He filled me in with a lot of information.
“Can I know who that other guy is? I might know him.” He told me. He’s so clueless. I like him. I was just saying that I MIGHT have a thing for his brother.
“It’s you, ya idiot.” I said, walking up to him and wrapping my arms around his neck. “You are so clueless. Haven’t you noticed that I laid my head on you shoulder when you put your arm around me? Haven’t you noticed that I wanted you to carry me to my room? Geez, and your brother calls you smart. I’m starting to wonder on some of these things.” I kissed him, and he kissed me back. I didn’t realise that somebody was in the room, until I heard gasps. I broke the kiss, and looked up. There were so many girls in that room, I couldn’t even count them.
“Will you be my girlfriend?” Paul asked me.
“Do you really want to know that answer?” I asked him. He nodded his head, and I kissed him again.
“Did I prove my point?” I asked.
“Yes you did, Brogan.” He said.
“Now get ready for class. I’ll see you later.” He said and kissed my cheek. Some of the girls were even glaring at me. I shut the door, and started to get dressed. Mr. Perfect had to go to a couple of morning classes, so I had the dorm room all to myself for and hour and forty five minutes.
I got dressed in some jeans that had some gems on the back pockets, a tank top, and the pair of my new Jordans. I brushed and straightened my hair, and parted it sideways. Next, I applied on some mascara, eyeliner, some blush, and lip gloss. I was now ready to start the day, I only needed some breakfast. I grabbed my bookbag, which had everything I needed in it, and headed outside. I made sure that I grabbed my key, and locked the door behind me. I was set and ready for the day.
It was now time for class, and I was in reading first hour. Little did I know, Ryan was in that class. He kept looking at me when he thought I wouldn’t notice. There was a knock at the door, and Mr. Stainedlen opened the door. The football team came in with so many bouquets of red roses. They all had a teddy bear around them. Lastly, Paul came through the door holding some chocolates and another thing of roses, except these ones were white. He walked up to me and surrounded me in roses. He gave me a kiss on the cheek.
“Happy birthday, baby. I hope you like this.” He whispered in my ear. He kissed me one more time, and then walked out of the room. Everybody was staring at me, now. Well, except Ryan.
“Care to explain, Brogan?” Mr. Stainedlen asked me. I just shrugged my shoulders, and went back to reading the text in the book. The rest of the day was like that, but with different things every hour.
I was now done with classes for today, and when I went to my dorm room, Caleb was sitting outside the door.
“Please tell me you brought your key. I forgot mine.” He said. I tossed him my key and opened the door. There were balloons everywhere.
“Don’t ask me, I had absolutely nothing to do with this.” I told him.
“Didn’t plan on it. I know who did it, though.” He told me.
“I do, too. He’s been doing this all day, and it’s getting annoying. Since when did you know we were dating?” I asked Caleb.
“I don’t know, I guess it just got around, and I heard about it.” He explained. He looked sad, now.
“You okay?” I asked him.
“Not really, can you just leave me alone?” He snapped.
“I was just wondering. I want to help.” I told him.
“You really want to help me? Mr. Perfect?” He asked. I had this weird feeling that he likes me. I walked up to him and kissed him.
“What was that for?” He asked me surprised.
“Just trying to make you feel better.” I said and kiss him on the lips this time. They fit together like a puzzle piece, like it was meant to be. He was kissing back, but harder this time. He licked my lips for an entrance, which I soon allowed. We were fighting for dominance, but you can already tell who won.
“Brogan?” Somebody asked. I turned around. It was Paul.
“Paul, I can explain.” I told him. He just looked at me shocked.
“You have five minutes. Go.” He said. I told him everything, and when I was done, he walked out of the room. Speechless.
“He specifically told me to stay away from you. I should’ve listened. Now he’s mad at me.” I said. Caleb just looked at me with hurt in his eyes. He was about to cry.
“Don’t cry. It’s fine. I’m not mad at you, I’m mad at myself.” I said while hugging him. He was really sweet, I can’t believe that he, out of all people, were emotional.
“Hey, do you want to help me with my homework? It’s kind of confusing.” I asked him. He took my paper and laughed.
“What’s so funny?” I asked him.
“This stuff is easy. But then again, I am a Senior.” He said.
“YOU’RE A SENIOR? I JUST KISSED YOU!” I yelled at him.
“You didn’t know? They were supposed to tell you who you were rooming with.” He told me.
“I wanted to be put with girls, not guys. I had no choice, thank you very much.” I was mad. Why didn’t Paul tell me that he was a Senior? He just ruined my life. I’m breaking up with Paul. Forget about him, he was just going to use me anyways.
“Do you want to switch rooms? I can have it arr-” I cut him off.
“No, I’m staying in here. I’ll just break up with your brother.” I told him.
“No, I don’t care. You don’t have to break up with him. It was my fault anyways. I’ll switch rooms. I’ll be out of here as soon as possible.” He said. I feel horrible. I don’t want him to move out, I like him here. I’m going to feel lonely. Thanks a lot, Paul.
Later on, I went to go and talk to Paul. He was sitting in the lounge room doing his homework. I made a mental check list. 1.) Finish My Homework. Paul saw me walk in, and turned away. He looked really hurt.
“Paul, can we talk?” I asked him.
“What do you want? To ruin my life? You’re the first girlfriend that I have had since Marissa moved to Germany. And that was three years ago.” He said. He’s making it so I don’t want to break up with him.
“I’m sorry about earlier. I honestly don’t know what happened. But I don’t think I can be your girlfriend anymore. I think I will end up breaking your heart again, and you don’t need that. We can stay friends, that is, if you want to.” I told him. I saw a tear drip down his face. I wiped it off with my thumb.
“No, you didn’t break my heart. You crushed it. I don’t think I can trust you anymore. Just get out of here. Please, I want to be alone.” He told me. I did as he said, and walked out of the room. I felt so bad, I needed to find Caleb.
As I was walking down to our room, I saw a bunch of guys carrying things down the hall. Finally, I saw Caleb walk out of the room, and put his key by the door. I stopped him before he could leave.
“Caleb!” I yelled to get his attention.
“I’m leaving now, what do you want?” He asked me.
“Don’t leave. Please.” I said in kind of a whisper. I started to cry, and he came towards me.
“I’ll have them bring back my stuff, I mean, only if you want me to. Okay?” He said. I nodded, and he kissed my forehead. I still feel bad about what happened with Paul.
