Brittany had been out for a while. But, Chance didn't leave her at all. He wanted her to forget the whole incident, but he knew she could never get rid of the memories.
"I just wish she never had to go throught this. It kills me to see her in here. I love her, and she doesn't deserve this. Michelle should be here, not her..." he thought.
He walked over to her. She was still sleeping, and she looked like an angel to him. She had no blood on her face anymore, but she did have a large cut covering her right cheek. He lip wasn't as swollen, but it was still a little. He held her hand and stared at her in love.
"I'm sorry, Brittany. I never thought anyone like you would have to go through this. It's not fair. I don't want to see you in pain like this, it's not fair." he said to her with tears sliding down his face.
He couldn't stop them from coming, he felt so bad about her pain. He knew it wasn't his fault. It was Michelle's fault that she was here, it shouldn't have happened.
Brittany started waking up, and Chance was holding her hand as she did.
"Hi, Chance... How's everything been since... yeah?" she whispered. He stopped crying, and hugged her as she sat up.
"Oh, my god, Brittany! I thought you died, and I was so worried, and- I love you, I am so sorry!" he started to sob again. She leaned towards him and hugged him back. He kissed her lips slowly, and he wouldn't let her go.
He finally drew back, and he sat on the hospital bed.
"I'm so sorry this had to happen to you. I don't know why she would do this to you...I love you, and I'm here for you. I will not lose you... Not ever." he said, holding her in his arms.
She touched her cheek, and she looked at him.
"I love you. Were you here the whole time? When Michelle slammed me down, the blood... did you see that? I'm sorry you had to see all that. It happened before you know..." she said crying on his shoulder.
He held her and asked her when it had happened before.
"When? She did this to you before? Why didn't you say anything?" he said wondering why.
She looked into his big, brown eyes, and said sorry.
"It happened last year. When you and I just met. I was out for two weeks, and I came back with bruises on my arms, and legs, and a cut on my ear. I guess nobody noticed. It wasn't a big deal then. Nobody cared then, I guess I hid it pretty well too." she said crying softer.
He suddenly wrapped his arms around her, and kissed her again. She kissed him hard, and she wouldn't let him draw away. She felt so bad, and she needed his love. She never had any love ever since her mom had decided to leave her life in the past and abuse her. Chance made her feel complete, and it felt better than when her mom said she loved her. Michelle had only said it once since she started the abuse. It felt great then, but Brittany hadn't savored it. She let it slip away, and it never came back to her.
Chance wouldn't let her go. He had never experienced anything like this. He loved her, and he wanted to tell her how much it hurt him to see her in the pain she was in. She tried to hide the pain that came even when he barely touched her cheek. He hated to see her like that, but he hoped that the love he had for her would help over run the pain.
"I love you, and I am so sorry. Michelle will never touch you again, I promise you that. I'm sorry I ever hurt you..." he whispered.
She kissed him harder, " I love you more. It's not your fault this happened. It's just her...", she whispered.
They drew back, and they stared into each other's eyes. She laid back down, and he laid right beside her.
"I'm so sorry, it hurts doesn't it? I will never hurt you like that again. I can't believe I ever thought we should go our seperate ways then. I'm so sorry." he said and he held her hand. The nurse came in to ask if Brittany needed any pain killers, and she stared at Chance.
"You need to get off the bed, dear. Sorry to ruin the moment." she said sarcastically. And she walked out. But, he didn't get up.
"I don't like her.", he said smiling.
Brittany wanted to smile back, but when she tried, she screamed because it hurt so badly. He told her to stop.
"Please, I hate to see you hurt like that. I love you. Please, don't hurt yourself.", he said. She held his hand tighter, and she finally managed a smile. He smiled back. He got up and sat in the chair beside the bed, because he heard the footsteps coming there.
His mom and dad walked in, and they ran up to Brittany. "Are you okay, Brittany? We were so worried when we got the call from the police, and Chance wouldn't stop crying. He was so worried, and we were too. You're a part of our family now. You will always be welcome with us.", his mom sobbed. His dad even hugged her. "Brittany, you are a beautiful, amazing girl, I am so sorry this all happened to you. You are like the daughter I never got. Chance loves you, and we do too. Are you feeling okay? I was so worried about you. I left work as soon as I got the call.", he said with a tear sliding down his face. Brittany started crying, "You guys are the best. I love you all. You are like the family I never got to see. The family I had never would have loved me like this. I love you all so much.", she said sobbing. They all hugged her and they all were crying.
The nurse came back just as they stopped crying. "Brittany, you are being released today. Are you feeling okay?", she said still not caring at all. "Yes, I'm feeling fine.", she said. The nurse rolled her eyes, "Great dear, you can get up and they brought some clothes for you. They're on the counter over there. After you change, you can leave. No papers, or anything.", she said. His mom told her great, an told her to leave if she was going to be so rude. The nurse didn't care and she walked out.
They walked out so she could get changed. Chance walked out reluctantly.
After a few minutes she walked out to see Chance pasing the halls. "Oh, my god, you look so cute. Even with the cut. I still love you.", he said as soon as he saw her. She looked at the ground blushing. "Thanks. That's sweet. Even with the cut, you think I look cute? That's a little weird, but then again, we both are weird.", she said.
They walked out of the hospital to see a crowd of cameras flashing. "Oh, my god! What's going on?!", Brittany shouted over the voices louder than her own. Chance walked in front of her and told them all to stop it. "Stop! She just got out, give her some time to process this! Get back!", he screamed. They ran and shoved through the crowd to the car and drove away. They had people try to snap pictures while they drove away. This was way too much so soon.
