5. Chapter 5

CLIP! CLOP! CLIP! CLOP!

I followed the sound of Ms Deathly's high-heels through the corridors of the high school. Peeking inside different classrooms, I could see whiteboards full of maths equations, or benches full of science chemicals, or teachers drawling on about World War II. Each class had about 30 or so kids, all slumped over on their desks, looking completely bored out of their minds.

So this was what I had to look forward to? Lucky me...

We walked past the Gym. I caught a glimpse inside... This looked much more exciting! Rock climbing walls, trampolines, sporting courts... Now this was more like it! Forget boring old school lessons!

We passed some more classrooms, as well as the canteen and staff room, and we were finally at the principal's office... The lair of the devil!

Ms Deathly stepped inside and I followed. I looked around. Every wall was covered by shelves stacked with thick, leather-bound books, of every subject imaginable. I even saw "How To Tame a Lion"! In the centre of the room, stood a large mahogany desk, covered with papers and folders. The normal principal stuff. To the right, were three chairs.

And they were occupied.

Oh great... Just who I wanted to see...

Sitting in the chairs were the girls from the trio; Chelsea the blonde, Mackenzie the ginger, and Jackie the brunette. They sat with one leg crossed over the other, each on their smart phones. They looked up as Deathly sat down at her desk. They spotted me and smirked maliciously.

Even they knew I was in trouble.

And they loved it.

Deathly pointed to the chair opposite her, in front of the desk. I sat down.

"THIS IS YOUR FIRST DAY AT STONEWALL HIGH, IS IT NOT, MISS SPARKS?" she boomed.

"New girl..." Blondie whispered to her cronies, smirking.

I resisted the strong urge to throw something at her, and instead replied to Ms Deathly, "Yes, Ma'am."

"WELL, THESE GIRLS TOLD ME THAT YOU THOUGHT IT WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE TO ATTACK YOUR FELLOW PUPILS! THEY TOLD ME THAT YOU TACKLED THEM TO THE GROUND AT 8:45AM THIS MORNING! IS THIS TRUE, MISS SPARKS?"

I gasped. What?! I didn't attack them, the attacked me! I turned to look at the trio sitting in the other chairs. Just then, they could have given even Deathly a run for her money with the evil smile award. They had set me up!

"No, Ma'am! They attacked me! I never tackled them to the ground! They came up to me and-" Blondie jumped up from her chair and pointed a perfectly painted nail at me. "She's lying!" She screeched. The other two jumped up from their chairs too, and backed up Blondie, "She's lying, Ma'am!", "Yeah, we would never do that!", "Can you even believe what she is saying!", "She thinks she can get away with it, Ms!", "Stop her!".

Deathly stood up and slammed her hands down on her desk, making a couple of papers fly.

"SILENCE!!!" she boomed.

The trio walked back to their chairs and sat back down. Deathly, on the other hand, remained standing.

"LYING IS NOT TOLERATED AT THIS SCHOOL, MELISSA SPARKS! HOW DARE YOU TRY AND TRICK ME!"

"But Miss-" I was cut off by Deathly, who was completely enraged. I could just imagine fire coming out of her mouth and smoke coming out of her ears, just like a dragon.

"DETENTION! EVERY DAY! FOR THE WHOLE TERM!"

That sadistic trio had done this! Attacked me, set me up, lied! They should be the ones with Detention! I looked over at them again, and they couldn't have looked more pleased. Their evil grimaces were from ear to ear and I swear I heard Blondie laugh. I turned back to Deathly.

"But it wasn't me-"

"GET OUT!"
