I see a pale figure moving across the water. She has hair as silver as the moonlight and a white dress that hangs down to her knees. She lifts her hand and waves at me. I hesitantly wave back.
"Who are you waving at?" A deep voice asks.
"I-I, oh, no...no one." I lie. She dives down deep into the water. Luna? No, that couldn't be. She's a folk tale. Right? A tug deep in my gut tells me otherwise, but I ignore the feeling.
"Someone. Whatever. I'm Allan. I know everyone around here, and you aren't from around here, are you?" He-Allan- challenged me to answer.
"Aftan. I just moved here. I am living with my Aunt Jane."
"Ah. A newbie. You moved in with Jane, huh?"
"That's what I said." I roll my eyes.
"You have a tone on you. I see. Just...Be careful. A tone can bring you to bad places in this town."
"Alright. I will, listen, I'd better get back. Jane will worry." Without waiting for a good-bye, I stalked back towards my Aunt's house, glancing every so often at the water to look for the girl. No matter how many times I told myself that it was my imagination, I deep down knew that it couldn't have been.
