I walked into starbuck’s the next morning to get myself a chocolatey chip mocha frappe because I’m a BIG chocolate person. I thought about my wedding, we pretty much have it all planned and delivered, all except for my dress and his suit. Three weeks til I am officially married to Ivan! I’m super excited about this. I hear a buzz on my phone. I look down while continuously slurping my mocha frappe. Hey Zara, I heard you’re getting married in two-- excuse me three weeks. I’ll see you there, call me. Unknown number… grr. I don’t know about this I thought, but decided to dial the number.
“Hey Zara.” the voice said
“Hi… Who is this?”
“You dumped me for him?”
I could recognize that attitude anywhere, it was Derick…
“Why do you choose to bug me now Derick?”
“I’m just asking you to rethink your decision. That’s all.”
“Not going to happen. I love him and there’s nothing you can do, good bye.” I hung up. I walked down the road and wondered where the others were. I turned the corner and there Derick was in front of me.
“Why hello there, Zar. You can’t lose me you know, I’m a master spy.”
“In your dreams, Derick. Ivan is perfect for me and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
“Maybe there’s nothing I can do about you guys being in love, but…” he punches me and I fall to the ground, hand on my cheek where he hit me. He just made a grave mistake. “That’s revenge for the multiple times you hurt me.” I did a sweep kick which knocked him on his butt and I started to crawl toward my phone which had gotten slapped out of my hand. Suddenly, a foot stepped on my phone. If it wasn’t Derick, who was it? I looked up into the still partially bruised face of Cole. I thought Well, I’m in a deep deep hole.
“Can I at least say some last words before you guys beat me to a bloody pulp?”
“Fine.” Derick said casually
“I HATE YOU ALL! Oh and one more thing… JU! LYLIANNE! CHELLE! IVAN! SOMEONE HELP ME!”
Cole kicked me in the side as Ju walked towards the scene
“Leave her alone!” I saw Ju punch Cole in the back of the neck. “What, the fuck, were you doing to my friend?”
Derick slowly walked up behind her. I was so weak all I could do was point. She turned her head to the side, elbowed him in the solar plexus and locked him in the submission hold WWE superstar Undertaker is famous for, the Hells Gates. I could see it being applied. Tighter and tighter the hold grew. I finally got the chance to stand up and put Cole to sleep with a GTS also known as the Go To Sleep (See what I did there?). I sat there and watch the blood flow out of Derick’s mouth like a river, but after a while, Julie unlocked the hold. What have I taught this girl I thought while I was smiling. Of course, now both guys were knocked out. I went and hugged Julie.
“Thank you. I thought I was chopped steak for a second there.”
“I think you mean chopped liver…”
“Chopped liver, chopped steak… Same difference.”
“Whatever.” She said. “If it wasn’t for you… and other people around, you do realize they would be more than severely injured… they’d be dead. What did they want, anyway?”
“Nothing. Just looking for trouble.” I was trembling the rest of the way home and reached into my closet and pulled out Ivan’s scarf.
“What are you doing with that?”
“Russia is going to kill--”
“He gave it to me genius.”
I picked up my phone which, amazingly was still in perfect condition, and dialed Ivan’s number.
“How are you doing, Zara?” He said as he picked up. I can see why because the only time I actually call him is when I need something, otherwise we text.
“Actually, I’m ok, now.”
“I was in a handicap match but luckily Julie was in town.”
“Wait, who attacked you?”
“First it was just my ex, Derick, then it was my stalker.”
“I thought we injured them enough the first time.” He chuckled.
“I thought so too, but apparently not.” I went in my bedroom and shut the door.
“What did they want?”
“They wanted us to not be together…” I began to cry “I’m scared, Ivan. I can’t go anywhere without being jumped.”
“Just wear the scarf…” he said softly “The scarf protects me and keeps me unafraid.”
“And it’ll also send me a signal when you are in trouble and tells me exactly where you are.”
“That’s a helpful aspect.”
“I know. I love you, Zara, take it easy alright. I don’t want you completely stressed before our wedding.”
“And Always.” And with that I hung up. I walked out of my room and there Julie was standing.
“WHAT THE-- WHY WERE YOU?”
“I knew you’d tell Ivan and not me…”
“It didn’t involve you directly, that’s why I didn’t say anything.”
“Okay, I should probably go find out what’s up with Lyllianne and Michelle, you’re coming with me, who knows what could happen while you’re out alone.”
“Alright.” And we walked out of the door.
