I was sitting in Arthur’s living room with him, two cups of tea, and two half-eaten scones in front of me. I looked at him and he had flying mint bunny by his head. I giggled.
“Flying mint bunny seems happy today.” I said.
“I think its because you’re here, love.” He sat there a moment… then his mouth flew open. “Wait, you can see him?!” That made me burst out laughing.
“Sorry, uh, yes, of course i can.” I looked down, blushing. “So, uh, what did you think about vampire Academy?”
“I thought it was written very nicely and the plot was very-”
“Not that way, i mean your view on the series as a whole. do you think it is possible for the book to be real? For everything just to have been forgotten, though a lie, by today’s society? Do you think that vampires could really live in such close quarters with humans? Thats something i’ve always wondered, with every book i read. I know it's fiction, but there is always some truth to a fiction book.” I suddenly realized i was rambling. “sorry, i like to go in-depth a lot…” I looked at him, only to find he had moved and was rummaging through a book shelf. He pulled out a seemingly brand-new book and gave it to me. “Th-thank you.”
“Which was your favorite book in the series, love?” He sat next to me.
“Blood promise. The suspense was murderous. Or maybe that last one… I can't remember the name...”
“Fiery Heart.” I smiled.
“Thanks.” I closed my eyes and suddenly felt something warm on my lips. I opened my eyes to find Arthur millimeters from my face. I put my hands around his neck and pulled him closer to me, closing my eyes.
Well I never loved you!
I broke the kiss in tears.
“Why?!” He yelled.
Everyone bullies you because of me!
“Because I… I don’t love you anymore! I… I love someone else now!”
“Well I never loved you!” I felt something weird thump in my chest.
My heart… Is this what it feels like when it breaks? It… Hurts…
“Love…” I sat back, body shaking from the tears.
“I c-cant…!” My entire body just shook and shook. A phone rang. Arthur looked torn between answering it and me. I calmed down enough for him to know it was okay to pick it up.
“Hello?” I heard a whisper come across the phone.
“Franziz said jou have a girl named Juju. I found vone of her friendz.”
“Prussia, I don't have time for this right now.” He glanced at me. “We already know that she has a friend here and-”
“Zhat girl ist vizh Franziz. Zhis is un guy.”
“Und he zayz zhat he vould like to zpeak to Julie. Put her on zhe phone.”
“Fine.” He handed me the phone.
“Juju, where are you?! I’m coming to get you!”
“Leave me alone…”
“I won’t! I still love you, even if you dont love me!”
“You dont understand-”
“Tell me where you are, or I will find you myself!”
“NO! I dont want you to be bullied again! That’s why I broke up with you in the first place!”
“Nothing!” I hung up. “On second thought, I don’t have to read the book. I just have to go find Zara…”
“I think you should stay.”
“Why?” A doorbell rang.
“Oh, god, you are seriously gonna try to make me confront this, aren't you?”
“Yes.” He opened the door.
“Juju!” Cole hugged me.
“”H-hi Cole…” Arthur kind of just shifted back and forth, uncomfortable. “How'd you get here?”
“You see, there was this guy, Derick-nevermind!” He hugged me tighter.
“Cole, you need to let go…” He did.
“I’m sorry, you just…” His hair was thrown in every direction. He looked… even more handsome than I remember. “Left… your parents couldn't find you… I couldn't find you…” He looked at me, and I saw tears in his eyes.
“Are you… Okay?”
“Now that I found you… thank god you're alright...” He seemed breathless.
“Yeah, Im fine. Now leave.” I pulled out my phone. There was a message. From Zara. “I have to call someone.” I dialed her number and waited for her to pick up.
“Hello?” A very, very drunk Zara answered.
“Hey, uh, did you know Derick was here?”
“Oh, god, you are completely drunk… You're with frog-face, huh.”
“Good bye.” I hung up. “Zara is wasted…” I sighed. “Cole, you need to leave. go back home.”
“No! I refuse! I came here to get you to come back, either we both go or neither of us go.”
“You are making Arthur seem like a third wheel…”
“I don't care!” He pulled me into another hug.
“Well, I do. And I’m sure he does too.”
“Now, will you please quit hugging my girlfriend?”
“She isn't yours… she is mine.” He held onto me tighter. I was torn between the two.
Am… i… supposed to know what to do…?
“I have to… go home…” I ripped away and walked outside, feeling my face turn to a frown.
I went to go pick Zara up, but the butler said she’d be out in twenty minutes. I wasn't waiting that long, so I left.
And when she got home she wouldn't talk to me.
Then she told me something.
