I woke up groggy and hair pressed in every which way. I stood and stretched. I looked in the mirror and pressed my hair down against my skull. Even in anime-land, my sleeping habits refuse to change. I heard the door open and someone walked in, shutting the door behind them.
“Hello.” I spoke without turning around.
“Hello, love. You didn’t call me.” “I texted. Zara likes to talk a lot, so I didn’t think I had the time to call.” I smiled at him.
“I wanted to know if you wanted to come over to my house after you are ready.” I looked over.
“Of course. I would love to.” I turned back to trying to fix my hair.
“You can borrow the newest bloodlines book… from me...” I looked at him. His face was turned downward.
“Please? I can guarantee that I will have it done within a week. Thank you!” I hugged him. Then I backed away. “Sorry about that…” He smiled at me. Then he leaned down and kissed my cheek. I sat there blushing and so did he. He didn’t move very much, just enough to lift his lips off my face. My face felt warm. He moved slightly and pressed his lips full on my own. I didn't know how to react to that, so I just sat there until he pulled away and hurried out the ‘door. “Wait…” I whispered. Then I hurried and pulled on a random set of clothes and ran out, hair flying everywhere. “Where’d Arthur go?” I literally begged Zara. I barely even noticed France.
“He said he’d be waiting for you outside.”
“’Kay, thanks.” I ran out and breathed. He was right there. Over by a car. I jogged over to him. “I-I’m ready…” I blushed.
“Let’s go, then, love.” He opened up the passenger side door. I blushed more and got in.
“Th-thank you…” He sat there for a moment before shutting the door, as though he was contemplating something. He got in and drove off. There was a few moments of silence before he spoke up. “I’m sorry.” I sat for a moment before I answered.
“Don't be.” He reached over and set his hand on mine. I flipped my hand so my palm was facing upward and locked our fingers together. I’ve always imagined this would happen… I never actually thought it would… “I think… I… think....” He pulled my hand up and kissed it.
“I know what you are trying to say, love.” There was silence for a few moments. I started to unconsciously hum the ‘Totoro’ Song. He began to hum along. Then, after what seemed like forever, he spoke.
“Here we are.” I didn't look up. I felt a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach. I couldn't think all of a sudden. Couldn’t remember where I was, what I was doing, anything. I didn’t want anything to happen, I wanted everything to stay in a stand-still. Not ever have to think or do anything ever again. But, even as I thought this, England had the passenger door open for me. “Love, what's wrong?” “Nothing.” I looked up and smiled.
“I was just thinking.” He looked at me like he knew I was lying but didn’t pry.
I love you.
I involuntarily squeezed my eyes shut.
Well, I never really liked you…
“Come on, let’s go inside.”
