"Your eyes better be closed." Joey demanded. He made me shut my eyes the entire car ride until we reached our destination. "Don't worry, they're closed." I said. I was anxious to sneak a peek, but I knew it'd ruin the whole plan, so I cooperated with it. I felt the car's speed slow down and the engine shut off.
I heard the passenger car door open and I felt a hand on my arm, pulling me out of the seat and directing me where to walk. I was suddenly stopped and I felt the stress on my shoulders, from his hands, relax. "Okay, you can look." He whispered in my ear. I uncovered my eyes and they soon became fixed on a door to a house. Wait...not just a house...but, Joey's house.
He reached down to the doorknob and turned it slowly before opening the door. I was greeted with the smell of cinnamon and I saw rose pedals on the floor, making a path to follow. I couldn't find my voice to say anything, instead I stepped inside the house.
The lights were dim and candles were lit everywhere. I turned around to look at him and he grinned while holding his hand out. I slipped my hand in his, pulling him with me as I followed the path of pedals. The end of the destination led us to a decorated room with even more candles and flowers. I was welcomed to a table occupied with food, drinks, and plates.
Joey let go of my hand and pulled out one of the chairs for me to sit down in. I obeyed and sat down and he pushed me in. I looked around and I was amazed by how beautiful it was. Everything was precise and so colorful, and oh the smell was luscious. I felt like I was laying in a meadow full of wildflowers.
He sat down and smiled at me. That's when he said, "Chloe, I have to tell you something."
