You see my family takes parties seriously. Especially when it comes to my parties. They throw big ones for me because I'm the "miracle child". (I'm not supposed to be on this earth, my mom had cancer so I was supposed to be dead.) My birthday is July 22 so it was hot outside. (We live in Georgia) all of my friends and family was there.
We danced, ate cake, talked, and then came opening the presents.
I'm always nervous about that part. But, I finally have enough money to go on the Voice. It's been my dream sense I was like 3. "Hey Red, there's one more envelope here for you!" my mom said. At this moment I had my god child, Dillon on my lap, and my little brother, Jayden standing next to me. Dillon is 2 years old and Jayden is 5 years old. Dillon is my best friends baby and she wanted me to be the god mother and the aunt. I was so excited when she asked me to be both. Of course I said, "hell to the yes".
My mom handed me the envelope wile Jayden was talking about a girl in his class and Dillon was kissing my cheek and playing with my hair. I opened the envelope and read the front, "On your 17th birthday
this card might be a shock
it's from a person you haven't you seen in a while."
I looked at my mom asking for some answers, "who is this from?" she shook her head as if telling me "I don't know who", I opened the card up and read the inside of it:
"I know this maybe weird,
but I needed you to have these
just so you can have a great birthday."
At the bottom, it said "love, Mamaw"
I dropped the card and started crying. My mom came up to me and asked what it was. I told her to read it. She looked like she had seen a ghost. I did too. You're probably wondering why we are freaking out so much about this person. Well, Mamaw is my grandmother, she passed away when I was like 8 or 9. I'm 17 now. It was in her handwriting. I looked at the card again and saw she had written a note to me. I read it of course, "I know I'm gone and you're probably freaking out about this card, but I told your grandfather to buy you and 4-5 others plane tickets to go where ever you want to go for your 17th birthday. I love you Sugarbaby, I will always watch over you and be there when you need me to be." By the time I stopped reading it, Dillon and Jayden were trying to make me stop crying.
