I heard the shower turn in the bathroom and I sighed.
“How are you going to tell her?” Arianna asked sadly.
“I don’t know. I’ll just tweet something.”
I opened twitter on my phone and typed in; ‘Please stop sending hate to Brooke please. She didn’t do anything wrong. This isn’t how my kittens should behave.’
Within 10 seconds the comments were coming in. I scrolled through them.
‘Stop the hate’
‘Why don’t you notice us?’
‘is she touring with you?’
And so on. The last one caught my attention. Maybe I should bring her on tour… I really don’t want to leave her in two weeks.
“Uhm Katy?” I heard her call, “I don’t have any clean clothes.”
“Oh uh… um here!” I called and just threw the first clean item of clothing I saw through the door to her before closing it.
Tour… that would be so much fun with her. Aweee I could get her a cute little boyfriend and take her shopping and we could do stuff like what we did tonight, all the time. She’s like my bestfriend/little sister. I don’t think I can tour without her now.
Just then she walked out of the bathroom and I went in quickly. The other girls had gone to their own rooms for the night but Brooke is staying with me.
I sat on the edge of the bed and reached for my phone but remembered I left it in the hotel room. I sighed and fell back onto the bed and stared at the room until I heard Katy coming out of the bathroom.
“God, I am so tired.” She sighed, crawling into the bed beside me and I crawled up to the top. “Did you have fun tonight?”
“yeah,” I said quietly and got under the covers. I yawned and closed my eyes, tonight was fun.
“Wakkkkeee up.” I heard and felt someone shaking me.
“What” I said grumpily as I turned over to see Katy Perry standing over me. I began to remember last night, how could I almost forget.
“We are going to start your lessons.” Lessons? Oh, right. Singing lessons.
“what time is it?” I asked, climbing out of bed.
“7:10.” She responded. I groaned, so I got like, 3 hours of sleep. “Can you sneak into your room and get dressed? You can do your hair and stuff in here after. Speaking of clothes, we should go shopping later.” She said and I nodded heading to go to my room.
“I’ll be right back.”
I walked back to my room and snuck in, I opened my drawers and chose my outfit.
I ran back to Katy’s room and opened the door. She has just finished straightening her hair.
“Ooh that’s cute.” She said in approval.
“Thanks.” I blushed.
“While I do my make-up can you pick me an outfit, nothing out there, just casual and something that will go with sunglasses for in the mall.” She said and I nodded, running to her closet. I picked out a cute outfit and some brand name sunglasses to match.
I came out of her walk-in closet and handed her the outfit, she went to get changed as I quickly curled my hair. I lightly applied some of her cherry lip-gloss and I laughed at the dorky reference to ‘Kissed a Girl’. She came back out and the outfit looked really cute on her.
“Come on, let’s go to the ball room, no one will be there.” She said and I followed her out. She led me down a long hall and at the end; there was a big open room with a small stage. She nodded towards the stage and I walked up, her standing in front of it. “I want you to sing a song, probably one of mine, just so I can know exactly what to fix. Do you have a song in mind?” She asked and I nodded.
“Can I sing ‘Love Me’?” I asked nervously and she nodded, smiling.
“I lost my self in fear of losing you.” I began and I didn’t sound half bad I guess. “I wish I didn’t do, but I did. I lost my own, my own identity, forgot that you picked me for me. But now,” I began getting more confident. I was better at singing lower noted, I don’t know why. “I don’t negotiate with insecurities; they always seem to get the best of me. I found I had to love my self the way I want you to Love Me. No more second guessing, no there’s no more questioning, I’ll be the one defining who I’m gonna be. No concealing feelings, or changing seasonally. I’m gonna love my self the way I want you to love me.” I stopped singing and looked at her, she clapped and smiled.
“That was actually really good, you sounded so much more confident.”
“Yeah, well I am more confident with that song, plus I’m not very good with high notes so birthday was kind of an issue.” I said and she nodded.
“I can help your voice be more comfortable with high notes. I think most of your issues is just confidence, if you were more confident, you could be an amazing singer.” She said.
“Really?” I asked shocked, no one has ever told me I could be a singer before. I thought about it, it would be so much fun.
“Yeah really, I want to help you.” She said and I smiled. “Sing some more songs for me.” She went and sat down leaving the stage for me.
She had me sing at least 15 songs, helping me on the higher parts, and I was starting to get better. I could hear the confidence in my voice and it was so much clearer.
I sang; Unconditionally, Firework, Pearl, Not like the movies, This moment, walking on air, roar, wide awake, it takes two, humming bird heartbeat, part of me, last Friday night, teenage dream, the one that got away, E.T, By The Grace Of God, and This is how we do.
A couple other people came in and watched and danced and sang along and it was so cool. When I ended with this is how we do, I was having so much fun with it. Everyone clapped when I finished and Katy hugged me.
“That was amazing, I’d go see your concert. Wanna go shopping now?” She asked and I nodded, I felt like a popstar, it was nearly 9:30 when we got in the elevator.
“Can we go to my room, I have to grab my phone.” I asked. I saw Katy tense for a second before nodding. We went up to my room and when we walked in, my mom was making breakfast and Cole was watching T.V.
“How was your night sweetheart?” My mom asked and I smiled and told her that it was fun.
“She put on a concert down stairs a few minutes ago.” Katy said and I left them talking as I walked to my room and picked up my phone. I had a lot of twitter notifications.
“She did?” her mom asked.
“Yeah I was helping her get more confident and a bunch of people came to watch after a while. You’re daughter’s an amazing singer, she just needed her confidence to hit the high notes. “I actually had something big I wanted to talk to you about.”
“What is it?” She asked. I took a deep breath and began.
“I want to take your daughter on tour. I just can’t do the rest of this without her, she makes me laugh and smile and I need a little sister, best friend, to confide in. Everyone else works for me and I just need her around. Plus I want to work on her singing with her and maybe even get her a record deal. I could hire a tutor to keep her up with school.” I said, I was rambling and I had to pause. I looked nervously at the woman I had met 8 years ago.
“I’d have to think about it, and talk to your management. But that doesn’t sound too bad of an idea. As long as we would get to see her sometimes. And get tickets to your show.” Miranda said.
“Really?! Oh that would just be the best. Thanks Miranda.” I said, “I mean, Mrs Manson.”
“Sweetie you can call me Miranda it’s fine.” She laughed and I thanked her before walking to Brookes room.
She was sitting on the window seat on her phone, a frown was edged on her face and she looked really sad. She was probably reading the hate from last night.
“Brooke..” I started and she looked up at me with tears in her eyes.
