“So,” She said, “Did you like the concert?”
“Are you kidding? It was amazing.” Cole said in awe.
I laughed and leant over to Katy, “He thinks you’re absolutely beautiful.” I told her and she blushed.
“Oh.” She whispered ducking her head to hide her blush.
“We all do.” I said nudging her.
Cole wrapped his arm around my shoulder and I leaned into him. He has always been a really protective brother so it’s just kind of a natural thing for him. I looked over at Katy and sighed.
“What is it?” She asked.
“I just always wished you were my older sister, and I was sure you didn’t remember me.”
“Of course I remember you. You were the cutest kid I had ever met, and I had always wished you were my little sister.” She said, “Here look at this.”
She pulled a folded up piece of paper out of her pocket and handed it to me. I unfolded it and on the inside was a picture of Katy Perry holding a little me, her lips kissing my cheek and I was giggling like an idiot.
“I look at it before every concert, or whenever I’m sad, or upset, or anything like that. I don’t know why, it just makes me feel better.” She said tucking the picture away again. “I remember that day perfectly, you were so proud of your climbing skills. You acted like nothing in the world could hurt you and I admired it.”
I stood up and hugged her. I didn’t know what else to do, that was really deep and felt the need to comfort her for some reason.
“But something did hurt her.” Cole said as we pulled apart.
“What?” Katy and I said at the same time.
“Brooke was really angry with the world that week. Our father had just left us a couple days before. Brooke refused to talk to anyone, she was barley eating, and we could hear her crying herself to sleep.” He paused, looking at me with sad eyes. “She was an absolute daddy’s girl. And then he just left. My mom said that when you started singing your first song, Brooke instantly stopped crying. And she was happy for the rest of the night. That’s why she seemed so fearless and carefree when you saw her. You’re the reason she stopped crying. That was the last time I’ve seen her cry, and I don’t think she’s cried since.” He took a breath and I turned and looked at Katy, who turned to look at me and I awkwardly looked down.
“Oh.” Katy said. “I didn’t know that.”
“It’s fine,” I said, “I don’t really care anymore. He’s basically dropped off the face of the earth. I haven’t heard or talked to him since he moved to Vancouver. He remarried once, Cole and I didn’t like her. Then they divorced and he moved. Haven’t seen him since.” I looked at Cole, my eyes telling him not to elaborate, I didn’t like talking about it and he knew hat. So he stayed silent and nodded.
The limo stopped in front of the hotel and we got out and ran inside. The hotel looked so much different than when we left. There were lights everywhere and music booming through the hotel.
“Katy!” someone called running towards us. Whoa, that was Jennifer Lawrence.
“Hey Jen!” Katy said smiling as she hugged her, “This is Brooke and Cole by the way.”
“Hi guys!” Jennifer said, hugging each of us.
“It’s so nice to meet you, I’m a huge fan.” I told her and she smiled, and laughed.
“Well aren’t you polite. Katy, everyone is inside waiting for the birthday girl.”
“Well, I’m just gonna go look around Brookes room first, it’s her birthday too!” Katy said.
“Well happy birthday Brooke!” Jen said, “I’ll see you around guys.”
Jennifer walked away and we got in the elevator, Cole pressed the button to our floor.
“That was Jennifer freaking Lawrence!” I squealed and Katy laughed.
“Yeah, she’s so much fun to hang out around, and she’s super nice.” She said.
The elevator dinged and we walked down the hall to our room, the door was unlocked, which meant my mom was already home. She was sitting in the living room watching TV. She smiled at us as we waved. I started to show Katy around and my brother went to go sit with my mom. I walked into my and sat down on the bed as Katy looked around.
“This is cute, it seems perfect for you.” She said going over to the window seat.
“It is, I really like it.” I said, standing up.
“I should probably get going to my party. Happy birthday beautiful. I’ll see you tomorrow, we can go do something together.” She said hugging me and I hugged her back tight. “Honestly Brooke you give the best hugs.”
I blushed as she pulled away. She went into the living room and talked to my mom and Cole but I couldn’t hear them. I pulled my suitcase out from under the bed and started unpacking. I put my shirts into one drawer and all my pants and shorts into another. In the last drawer I put my pj’s in it. I pulled out a black tank top and black booty shorts and changed into it, leaving my hair the way it was. I put my underwear and hoodies into the trunk at the end of my bed. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket in my jeans on the floor and sat in the window seat, as I went on twitter.
‘Best birthday ever! Had a blast with @Katyperry and I couldn’t think of any way better to spend my birthday! Have a good night guys xoxo!’
I tweeted and closed twitter, opening my messages to text Abi. As soon as I went to do that a message popped up from her.
‘OMG, your momma just sent me the vid of Katy P singing happy birthday to you at the concert! Everyone is talking about it on twitter too! How cool!
I called her and she picked up after 1 ring.
“OMG so get this. We got to ride back in the limo with her because we are staying at the same hotel, and when we got there Jennifer Lawrence talked to us!” I said excitedly
“No way!” Abi replied.
“Yes way, anyways, Katy is at her party right now and she has the next 2 weeks and since we are staying here for 2 weeks Katy said she wants to hang out a bunch and have sleepovers.”
“OMG WHAT that’s so cool!!” Abi squealed.
We talked for the next 20 minutes before she said she had to because there is school tomorrow. We said bye and hung up. I sat in the window seat looking out the window and scrolling through tumblr. The view from here is so cool. I checked the time on my phone and it was 11:09. I yawned and locked my phone. I have had an exciting day and I was really tired. I got off the window seat and crawled into the bed. It was so comfy, it’s like the bed just absorbed me. I turned to the side, and began to fall asleep.
