“You’re giving me, sweet, sweet ecstasy…” She began and the crowd died down to listen to her sing. She is so talented it’s almost breath taking sometimes. She smiled at the crowd and ran down the stage, touching the hands of the screaming fans that are close to the stage. I was too busy watching her, memorized to run to touch her hand. Plus, I’ve already been held by her. That’s more than over ¾’s of the fans here can say.
I danced and jumped along to the songs, singing/screaming the lyrics as the night went on. I was having so much fun, and so was everyone around me. I knew the concert was almost finished thought, as she finished singing ‘Humming Bird Heartbeat’ and brought the microphone to her mouth to talk to us.
“It’s such a wonderful night for a birthday, don’t you guys think?” She asked and the arena erupted in screams. “Who has a birthday in October?!” She yelled. A lot of people raised her hands and her eye scanned the v.i.p crowd right in front of her. “Who has a birthday this week?!” She yelled. A lot of hands went down but a few stayed up including mine.
Her eyes continued to scan the crowd until her eyes suddenly landed on me. A mixture of shock and surprise flooded into her eyes as she stared at me. She brought her hand up and pointed at me. I was confused, there was NO way she could remember me. I must have imagined the surprise, it was just luck… just luck.
“When’s you’re birthday sweetheart?” She asked looking directly at me as the crowd cleared my way, a guard walking through to help me up on the stage. Katy held the mic out to my mouth, waiting on my reply.
“Today.” I said quietly but it was loud and clear through the microphone. She brought the microphone back to her mouth and spoke loud and clearly with confidence you couldn’t help but admire.
“Well then I guess it’s a very special day for the both of us!” She smiled and I was still confused. “I’m lucky to share a birthday with such a pretty young girl!” She said and my mouth dropped open. It. Was. Her. Birthday. To? WHAT. “Why don’t you tell the crowd what your name is?” She held the microohone out to me again and I cleared my throat before speaking.
“Brooke Mason.” I said to the crowd and I heard Katy gasp beside me but she covered it up quickly.
She remembers. She remembers! ShE reMemBerS! SHE REMEMBERS! Was all I could think over and over again.
She wrapped her arm around my waist and led me to the big birthday chair shaped like a cake on the stage as the music began playing. She sat beside me as the chair/cake began rising up as she began singing. The dancers were doing some really cool acrobatic stuff. Half way through the song she gave it to the crowd to sing along and she leaned into me.
“Do you know how surprised I was to see you?” She asked.
“I could see it on your face. I surprised you even remember.”
“Are you kidding? I—“ She was cut off when she had to start singing again. What was she going to say?! The song ended and she grabbed my hand, both of us climbing off the chair.
“Now our birthday girl is going to pick the last song of the night!” Katy called to the crowed when the cheering died down.
“Pearl.” I said without hesitation and Katy smiled.
“She has choses Pearl!!” She screamed to the crowed and they cheered. The guard helped me off the stage and Katy bent down and whispered something to him that I didn’t catch as I ran back to my mom and Cole.
“That was awesome Brooke!” Cole said excitedly and I laughed and smiled.
“Mom she remembers me!” I squealed and my mom smiled really big.
“That’s amazing sweetie!!” She said, “I got your big moment on video too, by the way!!” She said showing me her phone and I clapped and jumped up and down.
The music slowed down as pearl came on and Katy began to sing, often looking at me. I noticed a lot of other people looking at me curiously and I felt a constant buzzing of my phone in my back pocket. I’d have to check it later.
“Oh she used to be a pearl! Yeah she used to rule the world!” I sang along to my favorite song. I was sad when it came to an end but it was an awesome experience.
“Thank you so much Arizona, you guys are amazing. You’ve made my birthday so much better!” I’m 29 guys! I’m getting so old!” The crowd erupted, screaming “No!” and “You’re so young!” and she smiled laughing. “Have a good night everybody! I love you!” She said and walked off the stage. The cheering lasted for about a good 5 minutes after she left, and then people started to disperse. I saw the guard who had helped me onto the stage walking towards me and my family.
“Hi sir,” I greeted him.
“Hi Brooke, Miss Perry requested for you and your family to come backstage for the meet and greet. She never really got a chance to talk to you.” He said, smiling warmly at us.
“Oh that sounds great!” My mom said, “I haven’t seen her in so long!” The guard just smiled and led us back stage to the room where about 10 other people were standing. Wow, this is a small meet and greet. We were all mingling and a few people came up to me and wished me a happy birthday.
Katy finally walked in and said hi to everyone. Finally she walked over to us and gave me a big hug.
“Oh wow, I haven’t seen you guys in such a long time how have you been?!” She asked us excitedly.
“Oh we’ve been doing great. It’s hard to believe last time we saw you in person was when this little baby was 5, now she’s 13.”
“Wow, I was only 21 when I met you!”
“You only look 21 now.” My brother spoke up finally and she looked at him laughing.
“Thank you!” She blushed, “You must be Brooke’s older brother!” She said pulling him into a hug.
“Yeah.” I said, “The monster in the flesh.”
Everyone laughed, and we talked for a few more minutes, mostly my mom and Katy but that’s cool, me and Cole raided the candy buffet.
“Well, I’m going to go meet and greet the others, but why don’t you guys stick around for a while and we can talk after?” Katy asked hopefully.
“Sure!” My mom smiled, “we don’t have anywhere important to be anywhere soon.”
Katy ran off and was talking with the other fans and hugging the kids. She looked so happy, kids really loved to be around her. My phone buzzed again and I took it out of my pocket. Whoa. There was at least a hundred twitter notifications, and at least a thousand new followers.
“Cole! Come here!” I said and he walked over and I showed him my phone.
“Whoa that’s awesome Brooke!” He said, “Mom, Brooke just got like a thousand new followers on twitter!”
“cool!” She smiled. We went and sat down and I went through my twitter, sending out tweets, following back as many people as I could. Wow, I’ve never been anywhere near close to famous. This is cool!
After about a half an hour everyone had left and Katy came back over to us and sat down.
“Wow, I’m exhausted and I don’t even get to go to sleep for a long while.”
“Why not?” I asked.
“Well I’m having my birthday party of course! There’s going to be so many people there! Jennifer Lawrence, miley cyrus, demi, etc. it’s gonna be a long night.” She sighed, but smiled anyway.
“Well that sounds like fun anyways!” I’ve always wanted to meet them. I stood up and went over to the table pouring myself a glass of water. When I came back Katy was talking to my mom and Cole. She smiled at me and then began talking again.
“Would you guys like to ride back in the limo with me? We can take you to your hotel!” She asked us smiling.
“I’ll have to drive my car back, but the kids can go!” My mom said. “We’re staying at Palace Hotel.”
“No way! So am I!” Katy said, beaming! “I’m gonna be staying there for the next 2 weeks until I go to NYC. How long are you guys in town for?”
“Two weeks!” I exclaimed excitedly.
“Yay I can hang out with my mini me!” Katy said laughing.
“That would be cool!”
“Hey don’t forget me!” Cole said interrupting our girl talk.
“Ofcourse, Cole you can hang out, but not for the sleepovers.” Katy laughed and Cole laughed too.
Just then one of the guards walked in and spoke.
“Miss Perry, it’s time to head back to the hotel, you’re party is finished being set up.”
“Alright Dan, the kids are staying at the hotel as well, so they are going to ride back in the limo with us.”
He nodded and walked out of the room, I stood up and hugged my mom. “I’ll see you in a few minutes.”
“Can you guys show me your hotel room when we get there? Every room is a complete different design.” Katy asked.
“Sure!” My mom said and hugged us both, leaving the room to go drive home. The guards led the three of us out back to the stretched limo. I’ve never been inside a limo, I’ve barely ever seen one, I live in a small town for god ’s sake. People don’t just drive limos around town. When we got in it was even cooler, there were Hollywood lights, lining everything, making it seem to glow. The little room was a closed off section and the entire thing was super cool.
We sat down and Katy handed me and Cole both a rootbeer.
