Eventually we sunk to the floor and he was still cradling me in his arms, stroking my back.
Then I passed out. Probably from all of the aching memories of my family playing over and over in my mind all at once.
"W-what do you mean by a fire?" I questioned her on the verge of tears.
"Mom! Call the police! She's here!" she yelled back into her house
"To be truthful I don't really care... at all," she spoke bitterly. "My mom made me invite you here because you're a loser and have no friends whatsoever."
Her words stung my heart more than it should have. Tears started streaming down my cheeks, not only because I didn't know if my family was okay or not, but also from embarrassment. I should have seen it coming. I already knew for a fact that no one at my school would dare ruin their social lives by hanging around with me.
"Sarafina sweetheart! Thank God you're okay!" Samantha's mother exclaimed worriedly from behind her.
"Do you know what's going on with my family? A-are they alright?" I asked nervously.
She had a sad look on her face, and was about to answer until the police showed up. There was only one officer, and when he was approaching me, he took his hat off and crouched down to my level.
"I'm so sorry honey... so sorry," spoke Samantha's mother gently. When she closed the door all of my attention went to the officer.
"Ma'am... I'm terribly sorry to report this to you, but a fire occurred at your house. We don't know how it was caused... but-" he paused and looked to the ground, rubbing his eyes with one hand.
"Some of your family members have passed away, sweetheart."
I collapsed to my knees, waiting for myself to cry out in agonizing pain and distress, but I just shook my head rapidly.
"No no no no no no no that can't be right...." I told him, so sure of myself.
"Sarafina, it'll be okay sweety."
"Tell me who," I demanded angrily. "TELL ME."
He sighed sadly, and hesitated before answering in a low voice,"Your grandmother... all of your aunts and uncles, o-only one of your cousins survived, and two l-little beautiful boys... that I believe were your brothers...."
"NO!" I screamed at him while crying. "NO! NO! NO! NO!"
"Sarafina love! It's okay! It's okay..." I heard Harry's voice coo.
My tears were covering my vision, making everything blurry as I sat up in my bed, clutching my comforters tightly. He must've carried me back to my room when I blanked out.
Harry was rubbing my back gently, convincing me to lie back down.
"Shhhh, you're okay, lie back down sweetheart...."
Looking back at him, I noticed that he had his shirt off again, but this time I didn't mind at all. His comfort was what I truly needed. I was just relieved that I didn't have to live through another night alone, having that horrible day haunt me until morning.
I laid back into his arms, his warmth and comfort surrounding me.
When I hid my face in the crook of his neck, he pulled the comforters up to my shoulders and stroked one finger along my arm, which seriously relaxed me.
"Close your eyes love..." he whispered soothingly. And I did, falling asleep instantly.
Sooooo I'm continuing the story, thanks for commenting! :) <3
