Just as we turned the corner from where Ron and Draco had fought I caught a glimpse of emerald cloak and had to stop abruptly to avoid colliding with Professor McGonagall. Her expression was steely, and she was glaring at me through the glasses which sat atop her long nose.

"Would you like to explain why I just saw Draco running through the corridor with a bloodied nose?" She asked, although a brief glance at Ron's knuckles answered her question for her. "Weasley, I did not invite you into my school so you could assault one of my pupils."

"Are you-" Ron started.

"Do not question me Mr Weasley," McGonagall snapped, sternly. "Now please, get yourselves to Defence Against the Dark Arts, Professor Harper is expecting you soon."

"Yes Professor," we all muttered, except for Ron, whose jaw had tightened and his hands were clenched so tightly into fists that his knuckles were white. We carried on walking along the corridors, Harry and Ron trailing behind, talking in hushed voices. Ron's jaw was still tight and it looked like Harry was giving him a good talking to, and so he should. I couldn't believe what Ron had done.

"What was that?" Neville whispered to Luna and me.

"He's angry Neville. Draco supported a group of people who killed his brother," Luna reasoned.

"We all lost people in the war. That doesn't give him an excuse to go around acting like a thug!" I muttered angrily, before storming ahead, leaving Neville and Luna to their whispered conversation. Just as the DADA classroom came into view I felt a hand on my arm.

"Hermione, I'm sorry about the way I acted," Ron said, although I could tell from his facial expression that it pained him to say this. "I shouldn't have hurt him, and I'm sorry."

"Ronald, you can't blame every dark wizard who ever lived for Fred's death," I muttered, watching as the others went into the classroom, leaving Ron and I to talk in the empty corridor. I could see that my comment had stung Ron, and he clenched his jaw again. "Draco is trying to change," I tried to explain, although I knew I didn't even believe this myself.

"How would you know?" Ron grunted, angrily. "Been cosying up to him, have you?" He asked, his face turning red.

"No, Ron-"

"You have no idea how difficult it is Hermione. You don't know how it feels to lose someone so close," he interrupted.

"I lost people too Ron! Everyone did! I cared about Fred too! I lost friends! For a long time I thought I'd lost my parents too! And being here...every time I turn a corner I am reminded of someone I lost. Every time I am in the Hall all I see is that night and the bodies everywhere! Stop pitying yourself so much because we are all going through it!" By the time I finished my rant, I was almost screaming. Ron looked like he was about to say something, but I didn't want to hear it. I turned on my heal and entered the classroom, leaving Ron on his own to think about what he'd done.

In the classroom, Harry was talking to Professor Harper in the corner and Luna and Neville were sat in our usual seats, chatting. When they saw me walk in they suddenly stopped talking and Luna smiled at me sympathetically. It took every ounce of self control in my body to not roll my eyes at her. I knew she was trying to be nice, but I couldn't take another sympathetic smile, I'd had enough of those over the summer from my parents. That was part of the reason that I chose to stay with the Weasleys, the sympathy.

"Hermione, are you okay?" Neville asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I lied, giving a smile so forced it hurt my cheeks. I took a seat and moments later, Ron entered, huffing and puffing as he made his way over to join Harry and Professor Harper. At this point the first students started arriving. Five minutes later class started.

The lesson went by quickly. The class looked on in wonderment as Harry and Ron performed spells they could only dream of being able to perform. Although most of the underage students had been evacuated during the war, some had stayed behind, however they had only really been useful in disarming Voldermort's followers, as the majority of them hadn't yet been taught an complex spells. After the lesson Professor Harper asked Harry and Ron to stay for a while so he could talk to them, and I was glad for the excuse to get away from Ron. Luna, Neville and I made our way to the common room. However, when we got there, there was someone waiting for us.
