Emma Basset

Emma and her family move to Scotland when her father is offered a job at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Things at Hogwarts are not as Emma had imagined.

3. Chapter 3

We were outside of a tall house that looked like it was about to cave in on itself, the roof was missing a lot of shingles and the bricks looked as if they had been chipped away by centuries of heavy rain fall. My father smiled “it needs a little work but other than that it’s a beauty” he said, my mums face showed that she did not think the house was a ‘beaut’. She took a deep breath “I guess if I fix it up a little it wouldn't look so bad” she said, though I could hear the doubt in her voice. My father clapped his hands and walked over to our wagon of luggage, I wondered what spell he had used to send it to our house. He waved his wand and the suitcases followed him one by one into our house. The house smelled of wet socks and formaldehyde, I was glad that I wouldn’t have to actually stay there until Christmas, and I assume the smell would be gone by then. We spent about 10 minutes at the house helping mum set our things around the house, before my father told us it was time to go to the school. I was excited to start school, I had always loved learning, becoming more knowledgeable each day was something I enjoyed. Dad made me, Kassie, Sadie, and Daniel hold him tight so he could apperate us to school, we were too young to apperate, I would be learning how to do that next year. Apperating always left a weird, sick feeling in my stomach, like the feeling of being on a roller coaster. Group apperating was worse, the spinning sensation made Kassie wobbly, and she would often scream and kick her legs around. Once we were all holding on tightly we apperated onto a marvelous field, in the near distance there was a magnificent castle. Sadie looked at our dad “is that it pa?” she asked, she was the only one who called him pa, he smiled and nodded “that’s Hogwarts” he said
