The Big Book of Demons

Demons lurk among us all. Songs are written about them, many worship them, many slaughter them and hunt them. But the majority fear them, cower from them for them to corrupt you and terrorize your very souls. This book, whether it may be of use to you is none of its concern, but to advise you, guide you and help against the beings of the dark, the fire, the hate. I and my sister are experienced Demon Hunters, and we know the horrors these creatures cause.

23. 21 - Heldrakes

Heldrakes
Warhammer

Division 4

TYPE:
Daemon Engine

Size:
From snout to tail, the fowl creature is roughly 23m long. Wingspan is oddly shaped, but it more or less 30m.

About:
"Out of the storm it came -- a beast of brass and obsidian, of cable and bone, the wind from its jagged pinions reeking of brimstone and rotten souls." ~ Ordo Malleus, Inquisitor Leondros

Heldrakes are winged Daemon Engines, the third and final of the main Daemon Engines. They take a sinister pleasure in diving onto air craft from above, ripping them apart in mid air and scorching the flesh and bone inside. They used to be noble air craft, flown and piloted by men, but when these air craft are captured by daemons, then the air craft is recreated... with the pilots still inside. Whilst the air craft is being reformed into a Heldrake, the pilots are still inside and start to mould and form with the metal and mechanics. Eventually, their souls then slowly start to become corrupt as well, becoming a never ending burning fuel for the engine where a normal beasts' heart would be. It is truly hideous how these monsters are formed, and even more so how they perform as a combat role.

Weapons and Powers:
Their claws are driven by pistons in their limbs, able to rip through steel as easily if it was flesh. Also they can blast flaming heat from their jaws, brewed from their burning engines in the pit of their cores. These will usually be projected by flamethrowers or can also be replaced with guns, used for aerial combat against air craft.

How to Kill:
If you really want to take this beast down, you must do it from the ground. These monstrosities are far too skilled in the air for you to do anything to them, and very rarely do they swoop down and clutch onto their victims that are below them. So, aim for the head or the stomach with AA (Anti-Aircraft) guns that may blast through it's reactors.

Well... all I can say is watch the skies, and don't become pilots. Otherwise, if your air craft gets captured, then your souls will be eternally burned for the purposes of evil.

(The Heldrakes are also featured in my "Big Book of Dragons". Have a see for yourself!)
