My unrequited love

I know your average girl. Skinny, long and silky hair, short dress, pretty smile, coverup makeup, thin eyebrows. I'm not like that - slightly muscular, broader shoulders, prefers jumpers and long sleeves. "I like that". He smirks.

3. Cheesy pasta w/ sauce

"No way, get that out of my face, Absolutely, NO and just to be clear, nuh-uh!", crying out loud, I protest as June waves a large bottle in front of me precariously,

"Go on", she says, elongating the O, "Just try a bit, what's the harm in it?", she tries to push the bottle onto me again giggling and I thank the demonesses below once again for giving me muscles with the broad shoulders,

"This is peer pressure! I cannot believe we're still friends and I'm just..." I mock cry in the hope that she'll stop going on,

"It's weird! It's not normal to be almost sixteen years of age and not have tried coca-cola!", exasperated, June gives up and takes a long swig from the bottle while I sip at my orange juice. Peer pressure, eh?

After finishing dinner, [cheesy pasta with tomato sauce <3], we get changed into out p-jays and go back into June's room while also sneaking into the snack haul we bought from our way back form school. Also, June's parents are out today and yes, we planned this.

"12, 13, 14" June says slowly,

"15, 16" I say giggling. There's a trick to this.

"um.....17... Wait... HOW DID YOU EVEN DO THAT AGAIN?!"

"18, 19, 20!" I yell and laugh manically

"21", June sighs and swats at me before collapsing into a giggling fit.

"Okay, okay, okay, I dare you... to call up your mum and tell her we accidently broke her dior perfume collection!" I laugh and laugh and laugh some more at this brainwave moment while June begins to plead and pray for another dare. Fyi, June's mum has a collection worth more than the royal jewels to her, no lie.

"Go on, then. Do you want to call from my phone?" I ask innocently as June glares and swipes at her phone violently and clicks on her mum's contact,

".... .... Hello? Is this mum?" June asks slowly and the fear is already present in her voice. I silently howl with laughter on the plush carpet and June's mum, Aunt Rune, replies,

"Yes June, are you girls okay?",

"No, well, mum... You know your Dior collection?"

"... My perfume set, yes, I know it",

"Oh my god mum, I don't even... Okay, we just wanted to try a little it on because we've never been allowed to buy such expensive perfume and it's not like we knew that we would..."

"What? Oh, lord, help me! June, how many times! How many times have I told you not to touch it! What did you do? Do you realise how expensive they are? Oh... oh my... James, they've done something with my perfume set [James is June's father btw]", at this point both me and June can't help it and I can't hold it in,

"Aunty! Aunty, aunty! Oh my god, we're joking! I... Aha... Oh... It's a joke, we haven't touched your room... I'm so sorry!" I can't find the strength to construct any words and we literally slump on the floor laughing, holding out sides. June's mum cuts the line, probably sending all the demons she can muster to murder us but this only makes it funnier.

I'm not going to lie, that was the best thing ever.

After hours of dares, including eating cinammon and drinking vinegar [which tastes beautiful with chips, but monstrous on its own], June and I finally clamour into the bed and fall asleep.

*****

A darker shadow inside her, souless and deprived of energy. It consumes nothing and watches, yet has no eyes to look upon with. It never speaks and seems disfigured but knows above all; as it knows of the looming future, it's presence will soon be known and it too can soon thrive over this body.

I'm not going to lie, that was the best thing ever.

After hours of dares, including eating cinammon and drinking vinegar [which tastes beautiful with chips, but monstrous on its own], June and I finally clamour into the bed and fall asleep.
