Rylie woke up to quiet snores muffled by a pillow. She propped her head up with her hand, and looked around the room as she stretched. She remembered most of last night, but her head throbbed slightly, and she felt nausea.
Summer lay in the other bed, her face enveloped in the large pillow, and her arms sprung out on both sides. She looked quite comfortable.
Luke was in the corner chair, his head resting on his hands, and his mouth gaped open, small drops of drool falling from his lips every few seconds. He looked like when he woke up, he would be in deep pain all over his body. Sleeping in a hard chair isn't fun.
The first thing Rylie did was get up, and pick out some sweats and an old high school t-shirt for Summer to change into. She couldn't imagine how itchy that dress was. She laid the folded clothes on the bedside table, and went to take a shower. She felt filthy, and thick with the previous events.
Once Rylie got out of the shower, and put on some sweats herself: paired with a ULA college sweatshirt they sent her when she was looking at colleges before the tour started, and some Vans, she blow-dried her hair, and waited for her current roommates to get up.
She looked at the clock, and realized it was already 11. She texted Gemma to see where her and Lou were. They hadn't come back from the stadium.
"Where are you?">
<"We noticed you had company last night, sleeping in our beds, so we just slept on the floor in Harry and Niall's room. :)>
<"I'm sorry. Last night did not go as planned.">
<"You can explain later. Btw, we leave in an hour, so be ready. And do something with that...girl.">
Rylie heard a moan and looked up from her phone. Summer flipped onto her back, and looked up at the ceiling. She moaned again; this time louder.
"What time is it?" she asked the air, not realizing Rylie was standing there.
"11." Rylie answered, giggling at how dumbstruck Summer looked.
Summer pulled her head up, and looked at Rylie. The first thing she said to her was, "I feel like I'm fixin' to throw up."
Rylie nodded, understanding. "Well, take it to the bathroom." Now that the hot steam from the shower opened up her head, and stimulated her senses, she was thinking clearly, and felt like the adult of the group.
Rylie walked over to the side of the bed, and helped Summer to her knees. Summer's body shook rapidly, and she looked ghostly pale. "Why do I feel like the world is spinning? And why does my entire body hurt?" Summer asked, clutching the side of her head.
"It's called a hangover." Rylie talked down to her like she was explaining to a child. "It's what happens after you drink lots of alcohol."
Summer groaned loudly, and Rylie helped her to the shower, and even turned it to the right temperature. She then grabbed the clothes and set them on the toilet seat beside the shower, so Summer would be able to change.
"Get cleaned up quickly, cause Luke and I have to leave in an hour."
"Is Luke the one who was all, 'Rawr!' and, 'Ugh!'?" Summer mumbled.
Rylie nodded, and laughed as she shut the bathroom door.
Then, she simply waited; waited for Luke to wake up. She didn't have to wait long, for in a matter of minutes, his head bobbed up, and he squinted at Rylie through dazed eyes. "Hey." he said.
"Hey." Rylie said, cautiously. "Is this my Luke or psycho Luke?"
"Depends." Luke smiled. "Which one would you prefer?"
Rylie smiled. "I would prefer the Luke who doesn't go crazy and look terrifying all night."
Luke frowned. "I'm sorry I scared you." Luke grunted as he pushed himself up, and walked over to Rylie. He wrapped his massive arms around her frail body. "From what I can remember, I was pretty pissed off about something. What was it again?"
Rylie looked up at him. "I don't know!" she huffed. "You hit that dude, and then totally went demon mode for the rest of the night! I was scared to come near you or you might hit me too."
"No!" Luke yelled. "I would never hit you!"
"It's just a figure of speech." Rylie spoke sheepishly.
Luke sat down beside Rylie, and kept his arm around her waist. "I think the reason I was so upset was because..." he paused, looking for the right words. "I was an accident. Foolishness of my parents. After I came into this world, my parents broke up, and I lived with my mum. Then, she got with this guy...and he..." Luke bit his lips, the words dragging out as he spoke.
Rylie saw him push back the anger he had. She watched his fist roll up and down his thigh.
"He always used to hit her and slap her around right in front of me!" Luke exclaimed, tears rolling down his face. "And as my mum laid on the floor crying, he would turn to me and say, 'This will be you if you don't cooperate.' Finally, my mum and I left, and her and dad got back together, and all was right! They are still going strong, I think. But anyways, it just kinda upsets me to think about a man hurting a girl like that."
Rylie felt tears brimming at her eyes, too. She rested her head on Luke's chest. His heart beat in her ear. "You are so amazing..." she breathed under her breath.
Luke didn't hear her, and wiped his tears away.
Luke continued to surprise her, and there was another reason he was so amazing. He was caring, understanding, and he treated her so good. Why didn't every woman have a Luke? They deserved one as much as she did. When she thought this, she also thought that no one could have a Luke. He was special, and unique, and most importantly, hers. She was never gonna let him go, as long as he didn't let her go. She didn't truly deserve him, but she just hoped he would look past her imperfections, and love her anyways.
"So is it just because I'm hung-over, or do I hear a shower going?" Luke ripped her from her thoughts.
"It's Summer." Rylie said.
"Oh, what are we gonna do with her?"
"I don't know." Rylie sighed.
The shower stopped.
Luke pulled Rylie off, and looked at her. "So I remember you telling me about a song last night." he smiled, and Rylie looked away.
"Man, I was hoping you would forget." she sighed again, pained with the thought of letting Luke see her writing at her lowest moment.
"It's okay." Luke said. "I know you're over him. You like me now." Luke smirked his cheeky, seductive smirk, and Rylie melted like she did every time he smirked that way.
She looked into his blue eyes as he looked into her brown ones. "I will show you later."
Luke nodded. "Okay. I can handle later." he smiled again, somehow changing moods within minutes.
They sat there in silence for a few minutes, lot in their own problems, and the bathroom door opened, catching them off guard.
"I feel a lot better!" Summer yelled. She looked better too. She looked clean, and more...alive!
Rylie and Luke smiled at her.
"Ok." Summer said. "Last night was not the proper way to meet somebody. Hi, my name is Summer, and I'm from a little old town in Tennessee, and I'm pretty smart. I'm shy at first, but once you get to know me, I'm loud and annoying, and crazy! I like lasagna, and books made into movies. " she laughed, and held out her hand.
Rylie shook it, and laughed too. "HI, my name is Rylie. I'm 18. I'm from California. I was born in England, and lived there for a little while. I am the main songwriter for One Direction, and we are currently on tour. I like dogs, and my boyfriend." she snuggled closer to Luke.
Summer nodded. "And you're Luke right? Less scary today, I hope."
"Yea." Luke smiled. "I'm chill."
Summer showed her big dimples, and nodded to the shirt she was wearing. "What's IHS?"
"Inglewood High School. That's where I went to school." Rylie said, all nonchalant.
There was a knock at the door, and Ashton quickly walked in, a honeybun in his hand. "Paul said and I quote, 'Get your butt down here before I walk up there and get you myself.'"
He looked over to Summer, and everyone watched the honeybun fall to the ground. "Who-who's this?" he stuttered, his eyes wide.
Summer reached her hand out, and smiled. "I'm Summer, and you caught me at a bad time. " she referred to her messy bun that rested on her head, and her makeup less face.
"No, I believe you never have a bad time. " Ashton blushed, and he pulled his curly locks back.
Summer smiled shyly.
"Looks like little Ash has a crush." Luke said in a baby voice.
Ashton walked over, and punched him in the stomach. Luke hunched over in pain, but Rylie just laughed.
"We'll be down there as soon as we can." Rylie said, restraining her giggles.
Ashton nodded, and smiled shyly at Summer as he walked out the door.
"Do you think he really has a crush on me?" Summer asked.
"Yea. What do you think of him?" Rylie asked.
Summer shrugged. "Who is he, anyways?"
"His name is Ashton, and Luke and him, plus 2 others are in a band called 5 seconds of summer that is opening up for One Direction on this tour. "
Summer smiled, then looked astonished. "Is One Direction in this hotel?"
Summer screamed like a fangirl. "Oh, why today?" she sighed. "Well, tell them hi for me! I have to get to my hotel."
"Where is your hotel?" Luke asked.
"It's the Que Lasta or something. It's really nice, though."
Rylie and Luke looked at each other, and laughed.
"What?" Summer raised her eyebrows in confusion.
"It's called the Que Lasa...and you're standing in it." Rylie laughed.
"All this time, I've been in my hotel!" Summer exclaimed.
"I guess so!"
Summer rubbed her temple. "Ok, wait here! I'm going to go to my room and change, so you can have your clothes back."
"Be quick." Rylie said, and she watched Summer run out of the room, and down the hall. She called after her. "Just meet us in the lobby!"
Rylie walked back into the room, and saw Luke getting undressed. His shirt ripped from his body, exposing faint abs in the structure of his stomach. Rylie looked away, and bit her lip. "Um.."
"You can look." Luke laughed.
Rylie, without moving her head or her body, glanced her eyes over to him, and she smiled shyly.
Luke, his skin still visible, walked over to Rylie, and pulled her body to his. She reached her hand behind his back, and traced circles into his skin. She felt the curves of his back as his muscles slightly moved. She felt warmth emitting from his body, and melting her heart.
Luke reached his large hands under Rylie's shirt, and traced circles himself, into the smooth skin of her stomach. He rested his chin on the top of her head. "I love how innocent you are."
Rylie mumbled into his shoulder. "I'm not innocent. Trust me. I was before Liam..."
"OK, I really don't want to know what you and Liam did when the lights went out." Luke smiled.
Rylie agreed. "I don't want to tell you." She pulled away reluctantly. "Now get dressed while I pack my suitcase so we can leave!" she commanded.
