13. Chapter 12

It was 7:45 and I was stood outside Imogen’s gate just like the previous day. Except, this time Imogen knew I was waiting for her and was allowing me to walk her to school again. Every time I thought of this fact excitement sped through my veins at a rapid pace, making my heart beat way too fast for it to be normal. Why does she make me feel like this? I’ve only been speaking to her for two days yet I feel the need to be around her at all times, and when I am around her I never want to leave... I don’t know why I feel this way but I’m new to it and, to be honest, I don’t think I mind it...

As I was thinking about my strange addiction to Imogen her front door opened and my heart nearly leaped out of my chest. Again excitement shot through me making my pulse race.

She walked down the garden path and greeted me with a small smile. She looked tired... well she always looks tired but she seems to get more and more tired each day. She mustn’t be sleeping well.

“Hey Imogen. How are you?” my voice shook with excitement and nerves. Why did she make me feel this way?!

“Hi, I am well thank you, and you?” she spoke with a small voice that made my heart break. She doesn’t need to be shy in front of me. I won’t judge her. I want her to be herself.

“I’m good thanks.”  The conversation drowned out and I thought this would be the perfect time to ask her something. I had been thinking about a way to get to know her more and this seemed to be a great way to do just that.

My body suddenly filled with nerves and I started to feel a little sick. Again, I don’t know why.

“So... I want to get to know you a little better so I was wondering if... if... if you wanted to come to my house tonight. My parents won’t be home and we could do whatever you like.” My voice was barely audible as I spoke.

The shocked look on her face was probably the most adorable thing I had ever seen. Her eyes were wide and her cheeks were flushed. Her mouth was open slightly and I don’t think I had ever seen anything more beautiful than how she looked in that moment. My heart melted even more with every second that I looked at her face.

When she finally spoke her voice sounded even quieter than usual.

“You want me to come to your house?”

“Well yeah... only if you want to of course.”

“This isn’t a trick is it?” I was actually genuinely offended. I just wanted to be nice yet she thought I was playing some sort of game.

“No, why would you even think that?”

She frowned ever so slightly but quickly replaced it with a small smile.

“I will come to your house, only if you promise that there are no tricks involved.”

I smirked at her and stuck out my little finger.

“I pinky promise there are no tricks involved.”

She giggled slightly but wrapped her own pinky around mine and tugged slightly.

I smiled at her I don’t think I’ve ever felt so happy.

“Well that’s settled we will meet where we did yesterday at three ‘o’ clock and you will come to my house.”

“Okay” I knew she wasn’t a girl of many words but that one word meant the whole world.

And with that we walked the rest of our way to school in silence. But it was a comfortable silence because for once I actually wanted school to be over.
