1. IN THE DARK

In the dark, everything speaks,

Candles flicker,

Floorboards creak.

In the dark, things can hide,

Around your home,

Or inside.

In the dark, dying dust,

Moving stairwells,

Life does rust.

In the dark, nothing can see,

Ghosts you hear,

Or is it me?

In the dark, no form or face,

Covered with shadow,

Who gave that embrace?

In the dark, things are trapped,

Surrounded by gloom,

Souls are snapped.

In the dark, soaked in the blood of others,

The dark consumes,

Sisters, fathers and mothers.

In the dark lies the mist,

Covering all,

It does persist.

In the dark, now one is alive and well,

No cheerful grins,

No happy tales to tell.

In the dark, our lives entwine,

Haunting us all,

With the thought that dark for some is truly divine.
