15. Chapter 15

Morgan's P.O.V
"Guys I'm going to take a shower." I said and walked to the bathroom with my toiletries bag, phone, and clothes. I locked the door, put my stuff down and waited for the water to heat up. While the water ran, I stripped out of my clothes. I checked the water and it was okay. I turned on my music on my phone and 'A Drop in the Ocean' by Ron Pope came on. I know all the words, since it's one if my favorite songs. I sang along with the song.
                'A drop in the ocean,
             A change in the weather,
I was praying that you and me might end up together,
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert,
But I'm holding you closer than most cause you are my heaven,

I don't wanna waste the weekend,
If  you don't love  me pretend,
A  few more hours then it's time to go,

As my train rolls down the east coast    I wonder how you keep warm,
               It's too late to cry,
          Too broken to move on,

And still I can't let you be,
         Most nights I hardly sleep,
Don't take what you don't need from me,

It's just a drop in the ocean,
           A change in the weather,
I was praying that you and me might end up together,
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert,
But I'm holding you closer than most cause you are my heaven,

Missed placed trust in old friends,
           Never counting regrets,
By the grace of God I do not rest at all,

New England as the leaves change,
The last excuse that I'll claim,
I was a boy who loved a woman like  a little girl,

And still I can't let you be,
         Most nights I hardly sleep,
Don't take what you don't need from me,

It's just a drop in the ocean,
          A change in the weather,
I was praying that you and me might end up together,
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert,
But I'm holding you closer than most cause you are my...

Heaven doesn't seem far away anymore,
                   No,No,
Heaven doesn't seem far away,

                   Oh, No,
Heaven doesn't seem far away anymore,
                  No, No,
Heaven doesn't seem far away,

             A drop in the ocean,
        A change in the weather,
I was praying that you and me might end up together,
It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert,
But I'm holding you closer than most cause you are my heaven.'

Right when the song finished playing, I was done with my shower. I stepped out and grabbed my towel. I dried off and got ready for the show. Once I finished, I walked in the room with the guys. They were smiling at me. After a while, they started creeping me out.
"What did you guys do?” I spoke, finally having enough of the smiling.
"Sooo sis." Shawn said and I glanced at him.
"Yes....?" I asked hesitantly. This can't be good.
"Well," he started rubbing the back of his head, "the guys and I kinda recordedyouintheshowerandsentittoBart." He said quickly. I stared at him confused.
"Shawn, say it again, but this time slowly." I said and he took a deep breath.
"The guys and I recorded you singing in the shower and sent it to Bart. Now he wants you to sing a cover with me up on stage at the show tonight." He said very slowly.  I punched his arm.
"I can't believe you guys did that!" I yelled. I kept a straight, looking completely pissed off, even though I'm beyond excited on the inside.
"Morgan w-we- p-please don't hurt us-" They all muttered before I busted out laughing. They looked at me confused, and then when they got it they smiled down at me. I stopped laughing and backed up.
"W-what- why are you guys look-" I started, but was interrupted by Matt picking me up.
"Hey Morgan" he smiled.
"Hi Matty." I laughed. I was handed to Carter, Jack G, Jack J, Aaron, then Hayes, Nash, and Shawn. He carried me down the hall and I was taken by Taylor.
"Aye Morgan!" He said continuing to run.
"Hay bae!" I yelled kissing his cheek. He blushed and I giggled. He ran with me all the way down the stairs to the meeting room. He ran on stage and set me down.
I looked around and saw Mahogany at the DJ booth. She was testing out the music and the song 'Lip Gloss' by Lil Momma came on. Taylor and I looked at each other smiling, before we broke out dancing.
"Go Morgan! Zayummmm bae can dance!" I heard Cameron yell. I laughed and walked back stage to sit down. I was about to sit, when Shawn came up to me and threw me over his shoulder.
"Shawn what are you doing?" I asked.
"Showing you, your seat on stage." He sat me down and I looked at the seats next to me. I was sitting between Shawn and Taylor.
"Why am I sitting on stage if I'm only singing a duet with you?" I asked beyond confused.
"Bart wants you to sing a cover by yourself. He said that if the crowd loves you then, he is gonna add you to the event." I nodded. I was actually really nervous.
Why would he want me to be added to the events? Did one of the guys tell Bart about my past and he feels bad, so he might put me in the show out of sympathy?
"Morgan,  are you ok?" Taylor questioned sitting on my left.

"Umm... Yea I guess.." I stood up and went back stage to be met with Shawn and his guitar. I walked over to him and stole his guitar from his hand.

"What are you doing?" He asked and I just sat down and started playing 'Listen to your heart'.

I know there's something in the wake of your smile.
I get a notion from the look in your eyes, yea.
You've built a love but that love falls apart.
Your little piece of heaven turns too dark.

Listen to your heart
when he's calling for you.
Listen to your heart
there's nothing else you can do.
I don't know where you're going
and I don't know why,
but listen to your heart
before you tell him goodbye.

Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile.
The precious moments are all lost in the tide, yea.
They're swept away and nothing is what it seems,
the feeling of belonging to your dreams.

Listen to your heart
when he's calling for you.
Listen to your heart
there's nothing else you can do.
I don't know where you're going
and I don't know why,
but listen to your heart
before you tell him goodbye.

And there are voices
that want to be heard.
So much to mention
but you can't find the words.
The scent of magic,
the beauty that's been
when love was wilder than the wind.

Listen to your heart
when he's calling for you.
Listen to your heart
there's nothing else you can do.
I don't know where you're going
and I don't know why,
but listen to your heart
before you tell him goodbye.

Listen to your heart

When he's calling for you.
Listen to your heart
there's nothing else you can do.
I don't know where you're going
and I don't know why,
but listen to your heart
before you tell him goodbye.

While I played I closed my eyes as usual. I had taught myself to play guitar. It's one of my many talents.  When I lived in that dungeon of a foster home, there was a guitar that was in my room. I didn’t know whose it was, but no one ever took it, so while I was trapped there I had learned how to play. That was only when I wasn’t getting beaten or blamed.

No one ever helped. No one was ever there. No ever cared. No one heard. It was just me. I was left to try and protect myself. It didn’t matter to anyone if I was bleeding, hurt, or dying. Most nights I would cry myself to sleep. I would hope that someone would care. Hoping someone would get me out of this house. Only to wake up and be beaten by the two drunks. No one ever came. I learned to give up a long time ago. Most nights I prayed that I would die, just to avoid everything. I couldn’t handle it. I couldn’t handle all of this pain. All this blame. Thinking it’s my fault that I get hurt. Every day. Every night. The same pain. Same blame.

My thoughts were interrupted by my sobs. I felt arms wrap around my body once I dropped the guitar. I pulled up my knees and was held closer to the person’s chest.

Why? Why me? Why did it all happen to me? Why did I have to go through all that? Is it my fault? The pain. The torture. It all keeps coming back into my mind. I just want it all to stop. I NEED it all to stop.

After a while I calmed down. I looked at the person holding me, through my lashes. Taylor. I looked around and all the guys looked at me worried. I looked to the ground and saw Shawn’s guitar on the ground, the top was broken.

“Shawn I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to break your guitar. I-I” I was cut off by Shawn hugging me tightly.

“Don’t be sorry. It’s alright.”

*During the Show*

“Now is time for our special guest.” The announcer announced as I waited at the start of the stage. “Please welcome Morgan Mendes!” I heard claps and screams from the crowd. When I got on stage, Shawn walked up to me and wrapped his arms around me. He then turned around and Taylor came up behind him.

“Hey Taylor, what are you doing?” I asked. He smiled at me with his arms behind his back.

“Well Morgan. I know now that you can play the guitar, so I bought you, your own guitar.” I looked at him weirdly then he took his arms from his back. There in his hands was an acoustic guitar, but not just any acoustic guitar. This guitar was a classical. It was beautiful. It was completely black, and on the back it had my name in a rainbow color. I took the guitar, handed it to Shawn and wrapped my arms around Taylor’s neck.

“Thank you so much Taylor! I love it.” Once I let him go, he sat down and I grabbed the guitar. I played my favorite song, ‘How to Love’ by Lil Wayne.

Cut the music up, little louder

yeah

You had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn't ever figure out
How to love
How to love

You had a lot of moments that didn't last forever
Now you're in a corner tryna put it together
How to love
How to love

For a second you were here
Now you over there
It's hard not to stare, the way you moving your body
Like you never had a love
Never had a love

When you was just a youngin' your looks were so precious
But now your grown up
So fly it's like a blessing but you can't have a man look at you for five seconds
Without you being insecure
You never credit yourself, so when you got older
It's seems like you came back ten times over
Now you're sitting here in this damn corner
Looking through all your thoughts and looking over your shoulders

See you had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn't ever figure out
How to love
How to love

See you had a lot of moments that didn't last forever
Now you're in this corner tryna put it together
How to love
How to love

For a second you were here
Now you over there
It's hard not to stare the way you moving your body
Like you never had a love
Had a love

Oh, you had a lot of dreams that transformed to visions
The fact that you saw the world affected all your decisions
But it wasn't your fault
Wasn't in your intentions
To be the one here talking to me
Be the one listenin'
But I admire your popping bottles and dippin'
Just as much as you admire bartending and stripping
Baby, so don't be mad
Nobody else tripping
You see a lot of crooks and the crooks still crook

See you had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn't ever figure out
How to love
How to love

See you had a lot of moments that didn't last forever
Now you in this corner tryna put it together
How to love
How to love

Oh,
See I just want you to know
That you deserve the best
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
Yeah

And I want you to know, you're far from the usual
Far from the usual

You see you had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn't ever figure out
How to love
How to love

See you had a lot of moments that didn't last forever
Now you in this corner tryna put it together
How to love
How to love

See you had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn't ever figure out
How to love
How to love

Yeah, see you had a lot of moments that didn't last forever
Now you in this corner tryna put it together
How to love
How to love, mmmm.

After the song I sat down and the whole crowd cheered. Even the guys looked amazed that I sang that whole song and played, with no problem at all. I looked over at Taylor to see he was already looking at me. We stared at each other until our song came on. Lip Gloss. Taylor and I grinned. I ran to the front of the stage and started to dance. Soon enough all the guys joined. It was fun cause Cam, Nash, Hayes, Aaron, Gilinsky, Johnson, and Shawn couldn’t keep up, so it was down to me, Taylor, Matt, and Carter. After a while Matt and Carter got tired so it was just me and Taylor. Taylor looked at me and I smiled. He smiled back and then he fell so I was left. I finished off the song and cheered in victor. I checked on Taylor and he wasn’t moving. I tapped him with my foot and he grabbed it. I have great balance and didn’t fall until Taylor let go. I was about to fall when Taylor jumped up and caught me.

“Thanks.” I kissed his cheek, and then realized we’re still in front of everyone.  I blushed and he let go. The crowd cheered louder when Mahogany had to say something.

“Awe Taylor and Morgan! Who thinks they should be together?” She yelled and there was an outburst of ‘awe’s and ‘They were made for each other’. Even the guys said yes. I looked at Taylor and he smiled at me.

“Morgan. Will you go out with me?” He said into the microphone. I nodded and he smiled. He hugged me and the whole crowd, including the boys, yelled ‘awe’. I blushed and he kissed my cheek.
