I woke up again, this time I was leaning against a tree. I remember someone saying something to me like,
"Sleep tight Jackson. And I will kill you if you die."
It must've been Meghan that said that, Sounds like something she would say. I looked over to my left and other people were laying down, sleeping. I counted the bodies on the ground. Two were laying right next to each other. It must've been Legend and Destiny. The third one wasn't that hard to figure out. Something that size had to be Clarisse. I looked over to my right where Meghan was laying down, sleeping also. That was four. Five would be me, so who is the sixth?
Destiny, Legend, Clarisse, Meghan, Me....
"Legacy." I whispered. Then I heard some bushes rustle behind me. I turned my head.
"Someone call my name?" Legacy said.
"Jackson! You're awake!"
"How can you yell loud enough to hurt my ears, but not wake anyone else up?"
"I have no clue." she whispered as she sat down next to me.
"What were you doing in the woods?"
"Nothing." she said quickly. I looked away, but out of the corner of my eye I saw her make the claw symbol over her heart and push it towards the woods. Warding off evil.
"Want to go see what I found in the woods?" she asked me.
"Sure." I answered as I gently stood up, careful not to wake up Meghan.
"Follow me." she said.
I woke up around midnight because I was hungry. I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast. I looked over to the stump that Legacy was supposed to be sitting on.
She wasn't there.
I shrugged. I walked over near the campfire and grabbed the hot dog package. I went to the other side of the fire to grab the roasting sticks. As I was walking back to the other side of the fire, I happened to see that Percy wasn't leaning on the tree anymore. I walked over to Legend and nudged her out of her sleeping bag. She got up, opened her eyes, unsheathed her sword, and swung. All before you could say the word sandwiches. I ducked just in time. She almost beheaded me.
"Oh, jeez Destiny. Sorry. I almost beheaded you."
"I didn't notice."
"What do you want?"
"Isn't Percy supposed to be asleep?"
"Isn't Legacy supposed to be on guard duty?"
"Why aren't they there?"
She looked at where they were supposed to be, then walked over to the forest.
"They went through here. I can tell by the trampled leaves." she stated
"Are we going to go find them?"
"Yes." she answered.
Then we walked off into the forest.
Destiny and I sneaked through the forest, walking ever so quietly. We came upon a clearing. I stopped her then gave her the be-quiet-or-we-might-accidentally-get-killed-by-our-older-sister look. Does that even have a look? It does now. I pushed the tall grass that was surrounding the clearing away, just enough to let me be able to see through. And there they were.
Legacy and Percy.
In the woods.
I may be a daughter of Apollo, but I have the mischievous qualities of a Hermes kid. I decided to eavesdrop. But they weren't talking. So I just watched. They walked over towards the middle of the clearing and laid down. Just stared up and looked at the stars. Legacy whispered into Percy's ear and Percy nodded. He got up and started to walk over to the edge of the clearing when he tripped.
And fell right onto Legacy.
I gasped quietly, and told Destiny to go back to our makeshift camp and try to get back to bed.
"No." she said.
"Fine." she said as she walked back.
I smirked. This was going to be good. I got up from my hiding place and quietly leaned against a tree in the clearing.
They haven't noticed me.
"Can you please go and get my pack from the camp, Percy?" Legacy whispered in my ear.
I nodded and started to get up. Then my foot caught on a tree root and I tripped.
And fell on top of Legacy.
"Ouch." she whispered. And then she smiled.
I smiled too. We just stared into each others eyes for a minute.
"Having a good time?" Legend asked.
I jumped and turned around, "It isn't what it looks like Legend. I jus-"
"I know what happened." she said mischievously, "I have been watching you guys for five minutes."
"You have?" I asked.
"Yup. And I won't tell Meghan what it DID look like."
"On ONE condition."
"I only have ten."
"Really, Jackson? You save the world three times and all you have is ten drachma?" she asked, "I guess that will have to be close enough." she said.
I held out my drachma and she swiped it up. Then she walked back to camp.
"Did my little sister just take your money?" Legacy asked.
"I guess she did." I answered.
