You Again || Luke Hemmings

I'm Charlie. I live in Sydney, Australia with my mom. My best friend is Luke Hemmings. Well, you can say ex-best friend. He left Australia to go on tour about three years ago and never spoke to me again. But I'm okay with that, somewhat. He has his own life now, without me in it. This has always been Luke's dream, to become known to the world. I didn't want him to leave because I loved him, but I guess he didn't have the same way.

9. Chapter 9

I watch as Luke and Aleisha hug. All of the girls groan in disappointment and murmur to themselves, walking away from them, but I don't blame them.

"He had a girlfriend?" I ask confusingly as we watch Luke and Aleisha.

"I guess...." Calum replies, then looks over at Michael and Ashton. He gives them a questioning look, but they just shrug their shoulders. I was shocked, to say the least. How come I didn't know about Aleisha?

"When did they start dating? Why didn't I know? Tell me!" I say, well, shouted. It came out like I was jealous and I regretted it once Michael smirks and says, "Well, someone's jelly, but don't worry, Charlie."

"I am not jelly!" I am jealous. Aleisha is beautiful, with her blonde hair, blue eyes. I'm ugly, with my brown hair, red highlights, and hazel eyes. "Whatever, I don't care." I murmur, then sigh.

"It's ok, Charles." Calum whispers, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. I let my head rest on his shoulder as a frown takes over my face.

Luke's POV:
I see the boys walk over to Charlie, and of course Calum chooses to sit next to her. I stare at him angrily. He knows. Suddenly, I hear a familiar voice call my name. "Luke!" the voice shouts.

"Luke!" she calls again. I see a blonde-headed girl rush to the front of the crowd of girls. "Lukey!" she cries, unexpectedly hugging me.

"Aleisha..." I slowly say. Ok, I wasn't expecting that to happen, especially when Charlie and the rest of the guys are watching me.

"Oh, Luke, I missed you so much!" Aleisha says, crying on my shoulder. I look over at Charlie to see her saying something and her face is a bit red. Calum swings his arm around her and she rests her head on his shoulder. She smiles a little and my mouth turns down into a frown, but I quickly change it into a smile as I look away. I shouldn't be jealous. I told myself to not fall in love with her.

Charlie's POV:
I shouldn't be jealous. I told myself not to fall in love with him, again. I sigh and watch as Luke and his girlfriend walk over to where the boys and I were sitting. As they came closer, I saw that Aleisha had tears in her eyes.

"Calum! Michael! Ashton!" she squeals as she runs towards them with Luke following behind. Aleisha hugs all of them, and I could see that the boys didn't like her. They hesitantly hugged her back and gave her a fake smile.

"Nice to see you again, Aleisha." Michael says, with a bit of sarcasm.

I laugh a little, but stop when Aleisha glances at me. She stops smiling and holds onto Luke's hand tightly. "Who is this?" she asks with a hint of hate in her voice.

"My friend." Luke answers as he glances at me quickly then towards the ground.

I was kinda hurt. He just said friend. We aren't friends. We're best buds. Well, we're probably not anymore since its been three years since I've seen him. I grab Calum's hand and he smiles at me as he intertwines our fingers.

"Oh...." she says suspiciously. "When did you meet her?"

"6 years ago. Hi, my name is Charlie." I confidently reply with a fake smile.

"Hi, Charlie. I'm Aleisha, Luke's girlfriend." she says with the same smile. There was silence. I could just feel the negative connection between us and I'm pretty sure we're not going to be friends.

"Now!" Ashton says, breaking the silence after a not so subtle cough. "How about we walk around the zoo and see the booths?"

"Yeah!" I say, fake smiling. "That sounds great."

We start walking with Luke and Aleisha leading us and the rest of us following behind. Luke looks behind to look at us and gives us a nervous smile. We all return one back.

After he turns back around, I lower my voice and ask Calum, "Why does Luke look like he's afraid Aleisha is going to pounce on him?"

"Well, you see, before we went on tour, Luke broke up with Aleisha." Calum answers slowly.

"Then why is..." I say, pointing to them.

"That's what I'm wondering. How are they together if Luke broke up with her?"

"Maybe Luke lied, it's a possibility." As we continue to walk, I can't help but feel guilty about talking about Luke behind his back. I mean, I just accused him of lying to his best mates. A feeling of regret rushes through me but it slowly disappears as Aleisha points to a booth and says, "Oooh! A kissing booth! We should do it, Lukey!"

Ughh, even her voice is annoying. "You sure?" Luke asks hesitantly and I see a nervous look on his face.

"You should do it, Lukey." I say teasingly, making everyone but Luke and Aleisha laugh.

"Fine." They walk up to the man running the booth as the rest of us trail behind. So much for hanging out together.

"Hi, there! Would you like to kiss to donate money to charity?" he asks, glancing behind Luke and Aleisha to Calum and mine's intertwined hands before looking back.

"Sure!" Aleisha answers without hesitation. They walk under the tent as the man explains, "Now, here's the rules. You go against another couple. If you smooch longer than the other couple, they will have to donate instead of you. And the amount of money paid is how long you kiss. So, if you kiss for 1 second, you donate $.25. Got it?"

Luke and Aleisha both nod their head and sit on one side of the couch that was sitting in the middle of the small space. "Now, who would like to go against this couple?" he says in a loud voice. The people walking by the booth just continue walking and the man frowns before his eyes land on Calum and I. "How about you two?"

Calum nudges my shoulder. "You wanna do it?" he asks with a smile.

"I don't know. It's going to be weird. We're just friends, nothing more." I reply.

"It's fine, let's just do this for fun, and by the way, Aleisha hates losing. It's going to be quick anyways, Luke isn't going to kiss her that long."

I think for a moment. Do I really want to kiss Calum? I've never kissed anyone on the lips before in my entire life, which is sad since I'm in my twenties. Calum is attractive, no doubt, and I may have had a crush on him before, but it disappeared before the feelings became too strong because of a certain blonde-haired giraffe, also known as Luke Hemmings. It was always him, but it doesn't matter anyways. Why do I still like him after all these years? My love life really is sad.  "Ok, let's do it." I finally say, not really caring what will happen after this.
