You Again || Luke Hemmings

I'm Charlie. I live in Sydney, Australia with my mom. My best friend is Luke Hemmings. Well, you can say ex-best friend. He left Australia to go on tour about three years ago and never spoke to me again. But I'm okay with that, somewhat. He has his own life now, without me in it. This has always been Luke's dream, to become known to the world. I didn't want him to leave because I loved him, but I guess he didn't have the same way.

48. Chapter 17

*Last chapter summary: Luke finally breaks things off with Aleisha and apologizes to Charlie but Charlie says she needs more time before she can forgive him*

-

We pack up our things and put them away in the trunk of the car. Ashton decides to drive and Michael sits in the front with him. The rest of us sit in the back, me squished in the middle seat between Calum and Luke.

I stare down at my hands, deep in thought. I shouldn't have said those things to him. It's even more awkward between us now, all because I couldn't accept his apology. I mentally slap myself in the face and sigh.

"You ok?"

I feel a nudge on my shoulder and look up. Luke was looking at me with concern.

"Yeah," I reply quietly, quickly looking away. By the sound of Luke's small groan, I knew he was not convinced with my answer.

"Don't lie to me," Luke says, pulling my hands away from my lap. I look back at him as he rests them in his hands. "Now tell me what's bothering you."

My heart does a little flip. My hands and his hands, are touching. God, I'm in so deep, I think. As much as I wanted for Luke to keep holding my hand, I didn't want to give in to him too easily. I try to pull my hands away from his, but he wouldn't budge.

"I'm not gonna let go unless you tell me," Luke says in a sing-song voice. I huff and try to think of a way out of his grasp. It only took me a few seconds before an idea popped up in my head. I smirk to myself before plastering a serious look on my face.

I look up into Luke's eyes and try to make myself look as sad as possible. His expression suddenly turns serious when seeing me. His eyebrows scrunch together in worry. "What is it?"

I whimper and reply in a shaky voice, "It's just..."

I lean my face closer to Luke's. His eyes widen and I could tell what was going through his mind. Our faces were just inches away before I quickly pull my hands away from his. They aim for his neck and I wiggle my fingers. Luke begins to laugh before he could process that I've tricked him. I haven't heard him laugh like this in a long time. A smile spreads across my face as I also begin to laugh too when Luke tickles me back.

"Stop it! Luke Robert Hemmings!" I shriek and laugh uncontrollably.

"Stop shaking the car!" Ashton scolds.

"Stop yelling!" Michael yells.

"Umm, stop?" Calum says, unsure on what to say.

Laughter fills the car. Luke and I continue to tickle each other when suddenly I feel my breasts being squeezed.

"Oh my god, I'm sorry," Luke quickly says and pulls his hands away. He was clearly embarrassed, his cheeks turning red.

Instead of getting mad at him, I start to laugh even harder.

"It's ok, Luke," I chuckle, "it's not like you accidentally touched them before, you know."

He grins and says, "Remember when we were younger, we had that tickle fight and you hit your head on the table? I couldn't stop laughing."

"Hey! That actually hurt a lot," I laugh, remembering the day the incident happened. Luke's mom had to drive me to the hospital afterwards and made Luke buy me some flowers as an apology.

I start to think about the memories I've shared with Luke and how much I missed them. We were so close and I wish we could be like that again. Wait, maybe we could...

"I forgive you."

Luke was taken by surprise by what I said. A smile spreads across his face. "Really?"

He suddenly pulls me into a hug. The butterflies inside my stomach start to flutter as I hug him back, feeling warmth spread throughout my body.

"Charlie, I can't really breathe."

I didn't realize how tightly I was hugging Luke. Letting go, I sheepishly reply, "Oh, sorry."

I look around the car at everyone. Ashton was grinning, Michael was smirking, and Calum had a proud look on his face. I almost forgot that they were here.

Calum nudges my shoulder then points at my phone, which screen just lit up. I pick it up and read the message.

Calum: Good job, Charlie. Mission accomplished.

I type in:

Me: Thanks for your help guys, everything is good now.

A message pops up.

Michael: No, we need to take it to step 3.

Me: No, you guys don't need to do that.

Calum: Come on, we've been nothing but successful so far. Let us help you out!

I sigh before texting:

Me: Fine, just don't do anything crazy.

Michael: We will 😉
