"Oh, hi Luke." I said to the phone.
"Well, I was wondering if you want to meet up and eat pizza," he nervously stammered.
"Like as date?"
I could imagine Luke's cheeks going red. "Um, yeah but it doesn't have to be, it can just be a normal friendly get together."
"I don't mind it as a date." I said quietly.
"So I'll pick you up at seven."
"Yeah. I'll text you the address," I said before cutting the line. Checking the time, I noticed I only had two hours to get ready.
In my denim jeans and band t-shirt, I waited for Luke.
He was late just by ten minutes. Then twenty minutes. Then thirty minutes.
Giving up, I changed into my pyjamas and jumped in bed, trying to hold back my tears.
A knock was heard from downstairs. Quickly tying up my hair in a loose bun, I scurried down stairs.
I pulled the door open and stared at the blonde hair boy, before immediately slamming the door shut.
"I'm sorry Adalyn." He apologised, outside the door.
"What you did was unforgivable."
I heard an audible sigh. "I know, I know."
Luke knocked once more. "Can I please come in to explain?"
It took me a moment to decide. One side of my body was saying to let him in, while the other wanted him to leave me alone.
Slowly, I opened the door but I didn't meet his eyes.
"Adalyn, let me explain." He reached out for my hand but I pulled away from him. "My mother wasn't feeling very well and I left my phone at home, so I couldn't call you to tell you that I had to cancel on you."
"Oh." I frowned. "I'm sorry. It's just that you stood me up and I felt like you were playing me or something."
He caressed my cheek. "I'm sorry I made you feel that way."
Then all of a sudden, my heart started beating faster and it felt like it was going to burst out of my chest.
I met his blue, piercing eyes and smiled at him. "I'm sorry I reacted that way."
Then he leaned it and I closed my eyes. Our lips nearly touch.
All of a sudden, his phone started ringing. Both of our cheeks were flushed.
"Hello?" Luke said to his phone. "Oh."
He ended the call and turned to me. "I hope to take you on a second chance date, next time."
"Yeah." I grinned shyly. "Me too."
"I'll be looking forward to this." He said before giving me a slight squeeze and he left.
