"H-Help. M-me..." I managed to stutter out.
Flames engulfed the building and smoke was everywhere.
I chocked on the smoke and soot was all over my face.
I saw a figure scurrying up to me. His blonde hair was slightly crisped at the end from the fire and his eyes were covered with an eye mask. He wore a black and silver suit.
He scooped me into his arms and swiftly raced out of the building.
I stared at his face. His eyes met mine and he weakly smiled at me.
Then I succumbed into darkness.
My eyes snapped open. I was in a white room with modern, advanced technology surrounding me.
"Am I dead?" I murmured to myself. I didn't feel dead.
Suddenly, the door opened and a nurse who held a kind expression walked in.
"Oh, you're awake." Her smile radiated warmth.
"Why am I here?" My voice raspy and in desperate need of water.
"You were very lucky." The nurse said, handing me a cup of water. "Four men dressed up as superheroes rescued you from the fire."
"I guess, they dressed up as superheroes." The nurse answered and shrugged.
"How long was I asleep?"
My eyes dilated. "Four days?"
The nurse nodded slowly and patted my shoulder. Shock ran through me. I couldn't believe I slept that long!
You'll be discharged tomorrow." She said. "The doctors need to examine you before you go."
On the roof of my apartment, I gazed at the stars.
It has been about a day or two since the incident. It was really traumatic.
I remembered the face of my hero. His crispy blonde hair. The deep, piercing blue eyes that were hidden behind his mask. His sweet smile that had a silver ring decorating it.
"Hello princess." A masculine voice spoke from behind me.
I immediately whipped around to the person.
"You?" It was my hero.
"You're the one that saved me." My eyes leapt to the floor.
"Yes, I'm the one." He said. "I'm glad you're well and safe."
I nodded. "Thank you for saving me."
"No worries." He smiled at me. "That's what superheroes are for."
"Superheroes?" My eyebrows raised.
"Yes." He said. "Superheroes."
"I didn't know superheroes existed." I said to the masked figure.
He cupped my cheeks. "Well, believe it, because we do."
He lightly kissed my knuckles before fleeing away into the night.
