"I don't know, Jer. You know dances aren't my thing." Tesla Coast set her books in her locker, and locked it up for the day.
"I know, but you don't have to stay long! You've never been to any of the school dances. Please, for me?" Jeremy Solace gave her a dauntless grin.
"Does it really mean that much to you?" Tesla really was unwilling to go, but it was hard for her to turn down her boyfriend at times. Most times. Jeremy was nodding eagerly, loving the idea of finally getting Tesla out of her shell.
"Alright, I'll go." Tesla agreed, and Jeremy let out a whooping laugh, picking his girlfriend up in his arms, nearly knocking into passersby in the hall. Laughing along, Tesla added:
"But! I need a dress, pronto."
"So let's go dress shopping! I'll take you!" Tesla was set down to see the grinning figure in front of her. Her hand was grabbed and they sprinted down the halls, Jeremy ecstatic. Tesla couldn't help but share his happiness, enjoying the look on Jeremy's face.
When the arrived at their car, Jeremy opened the door for her, his brown hair flopping under his glasses, in front of his blue eyes.
"Why, thank you kind sir," She mock bowed, and ducked her head into the black car. He shut the door and quickly headed to the other side, getting in the car himself. In his haste and excitement, he failed to notice the fact that he had two shadows.
They drove away obliviously.
"What's the theme?" Tesla was asked.
"One more night. Like, 'we only have one more night, so let's make it memorable'. Something like that." She pulled out a red dress with a v-neck top and a lengthy bottom, draping it over her arm. Jeremy came around the rack they were riffling through, holding up a black dress with a sweet heart neckline, but also connected to form lace over the collarbone and around the neck. It ended simply and at mid thigh.
"I think this is so your style." He was so happy. Tesla made a show of judging it, tugging at the fabric of certain places, nit picking at what could have been loose threads but never were. Finally she took it from his hopeful hands with a sly smile.
"It might just be. I'll go try them on." With a smile, again, Jeremy sat down as she slightly sashayed into the dressing room.
This time, Jeremy noticed, the slight of two shadows as she turned the corner. He insistently told himself it was his imagination going haywire, or a misinterpretation of the lighting.
"I told you! You look beautiful." Jeremy took her into his arms and kissed her, both of them smiling. They had always been high school sweethearts. Tesla's dress fit snug in the right places, and flowed freely in others. The deep color of her dress only accented her already outstanding long ginger hair. It made her skin seem fairer, yet slightly accented the view of her bright brown eyes.
"Okay, I do love the dress. Thank you."
"It's what I'm here for," He joked, earning a giggle out of Tesla, as she bit her lip.
"You know, I think you're also here for helping me become a girly girl." Gesturing to the dress on her, and heels in the room.
"Well, I think you have a big part of that as well." His hands were still on her waist, gently holding her in place.
"I suppose." She pulled him back into the room, this time, and again, neither noticed the extra shadows.
